Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace so i knew it was okay' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace so i knew it was okay' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think I am very lucky it only broke the cam sprocket and no other damage appears to have happened.
I replaced the bank 1 tensioner couple months ago without too much issue. On track last Friday had reduced power above 5k. Cam deviation showed 25 degrees at idle so I thought tensioner failed or was jammed. Durametric activated it and idle changed so I knew it was okay. Next thought was cam sprocket turned a little due to possibly loose bolt. Pulled cam plugs and it was slightly out of time. So pulled cam cover and found oil scavenger pump was seized and square key that goes into cam sprocket was broken as well as the housing the key goes into on the cam sprocket. Found a small bolt jammed in scavenger. Any ideas where it is from? Only thing I can think of is small bolt that holds cam actuator. But pretty sure I have all the old bolts.. Ill drop the pan and hopefully find the remaining pieces that broke down there. Could have been much worse if cam had broken or a chain snapped.
Did someone work on the engine recently?
Bolts don't just 'come loose' in properly assembled engines.
Wow. I too would be shocked if there wasn't more damage.
Found the culprit. I replaced the cam actuator last year and it looks like the end of the tool that compresses the actuator broke when I took it out and I didn’t notice.
Otderering new cam sprocket and oil scavenger pump. Should escape for about $300 plus another $100 for oil change.
Lucky for sure. See, that's why Porsche charges $45 for a simple reverse threaded bolt/nut and calls it a "tool", in case this happens, those reverse threads give it away.
