Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I seem to remember something about the 986's posting an airbag warning if the key was in the ignition while the seat was disconnected/reconnected...it required the Porsche tool (PIWIS for our cars?) to be plugged in to clear the code...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I am receiving the airbag fault in the instrument panel (person with the inflated airbag) following removal and reinstallation of my stock electric driver’s seat. I removed the seat to install a fire extinguisher bracket (different story) and after putting the seat back in the car I have a fault that will not go away. All plugs are connected and everything else functions fine. Thoughts? Cheers,

POST 2Original post

Nope. Drivers seat. No interference and all other systems funcitonal.

POST 3Original post

I seem to remember something about the 986's posting an airbag warning if the key was in the ignition while the seat was disconnected/reconnected...it required the Porsche tool (PIWIS for our cars?) to be plugged in to clear the code...

POST 5Original post

some of these faults can be cleared by driving the car about 30 miles - not sure if this is one of them, though - you still might need to have the dealer clear it. brad

POST 6Original post

Thanks Brad. I was hoping this was the case, but no luck. I drove the car about 60 miles this morning and the code is still there. I will try CCC4321's advice, although it will not be until the weekend. Other ideas are appreciated.

POST 7Original post

Krokodil - Always happy to help - just a reminder... if you do disconnect the battery, everything you've set that's different from the factory defaults will go back to their default values... and you might need your radio code to get the stereo working again... brad

POST 8Original post

There is no radio code with PCM, and I don't believe there is one with the CDR24. However you must reset the window stop which is easy. Turn the car on, shut the door run the windows to the top, stop and press the button up one more time.

POST 9Original post

I have the same problem, it has to be cleared at the dealers...!!

POST 10Original post

Unfortunately this did not work. Looks like it is off to the dealer.
