Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys I haven’t been on this site for some time now but have recently experiencing an annoying problem with my drivers side window. Whilst in the past I’ve had problems with it not dropping at all (resolved by taking slack out - from memory) Now when I open the door the window goes up and down several times. It’s able to be closed from the outside initially but then just catches at the top. If I try to open/ close it from the inside it’s just as problematic. What I find myself doing now (when closing the door from the outside) is to hold the external handle up just long enough to close without the window catching. What’s most annoying is the problems intermittent and not consistent. Has anyone else experienced the same and any suggestions as to fixes please? TIA Queen monkey

POST 2Original post

Yes - it's one of the 3 micro switches in the door causing the problem and by the sounds of things the one in the door lock mechanism, but without watching what its doing its hard to say. If its the one in the door lock, it's a new door lock mechanism, but fear not, same as VW and can be had new for under £30.

POST 3Original post
