The car has a pretty strong mouldy smell and I'm hoping replacing all the carpets will help get rid of that (I live in a high humidity place).

In my opinion if you are going to do a color change go with black .

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I got my first Porsche - a 996.2 in silver with the graphite grey interior. The car has a pretty strong mouldy smell and I'm hoping replacing all the carpets will help get rid of that (I live in a high humidity place).
I was thinking while doing this I could choose a nice colour to contrast with the grey trim, because the graphite grey interior is... very... grey! Maybe something orange / red (?!)
Was searching around and haven't seen many grey interiors with a contrasting carpet colour. Wonder if you guys have any creative suggestions for the carpet colour?
Or is it a terrible idea to go contrasting and I should just get a new grey carpet?
Here's how it looks today:
Congratulations on the Porsche purchase , the steering wheel is on the wrong side 😋 . In my opinion if you are going to do a color change go with black . Your gauge panel is black and so are the vents . So it would all tie together . You could paint the center console black also .
In the future if you need to reskin the seats go with black center inserts . Small but subtle changes will look good . Good luck with whatever you decide .
Congrats on your purchase! I too have a graphite grey interior-at first it wa one of my most hated colors but now I have to admit I like it but like you I think it is a lot of grey. I am going to be changing my carpet to black mostly to hide the dirt that gets tracked in. Let me know with you come up with!

Thanks guys! I'm super happy with the car and can't believe I waited this long to get one. Just wish it was a manual. They're so rare here. Maybe next time...
Grey/black combo would be nice. And great idea to paint the centre console too. Maybe I should stick with the safer choice after all.
Welcome to the 996 Club!
I have the same color interior. To break up the grey I bought black aluminum track mats from Rennline. Quite frankly they are awesome. When they get dirty, I wipe them down. Pretty darn easy to deal with. I like the grey but a little contrast in color goes a long way.
