Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

In the course of a wheel alignment, in an effort to get the steering wheel to be centered when the car is going straight down the road, a not-so-swift tech re-positioned the wheel on the steering column off of factory center, rather than adjusting the tie rods to solve this problem. The result is that the steering rack is not on dead center when the car is going straight; and since the steering gearing is variable, the car turns-in differently to the left than to the right; most annoying. I need to know how to find the center of the steering rack. Once this is known, the steering wheel can be re-centered, and the tie-rods adjusted accordingly, by my local wheel alignment guy, not the one who screwed up the car! Does anyone know, definitively, how to determine when the steering rack is on dead center?
