That's the first thing I do before I even see a car, primarily to make it's C16 (UK spec) and to see the list of factory fitted options.
Leading evidence: 'Install options' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check thingy' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Check the VIL sticker under the bonnet and in the Service book if it has option M601 - Litronics.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Richard,
Can see that your eyesight is perfect
. Thanks.
I have no idea what the color is called. Seller listed it as pearlescent purple. Hopefully I'll get to see car tommorow so will get all the codes.
And if all is kosher it will be added to collection
Regards Voya
Well after using google, it is vesuvio thingy. It looks awesome
Can't wait for porsche check thingy. Already putting money aside for PSE.
And Richard I'll pick your brain on that Navi thing that you've installed in yours.
Thats gotta be the best mod I've seen. But I'm thinking to go for AVIC D3 purely for
illumination key color.
Rgrds Voya
The D3 wasn't around when I did mine. Also, I really wanted to incorporate the speed camera database, and the D3 doesn't have that facility. Very nice unit though, and there isn't much Alex can't tell you about installation.
Hi,
A very nice vehical indeed. In agreement the Pioneer sat nav systems are the best.Far superior over stock. I am in an indecisive position myself. I like Richards install for the AVIC HD unit with all the toys but the D3 illunination gives the stock illunination but losing the HD capability and some other useful functions. I was hoping the recently released AVIC HDBT3 would give the illumination functionality but doesn't.
Anyway good luck in you modding and yes you do have to get the PSE. Absoultely the mutts nutts.
Enjoy.
Regards Alan.
yes very near london -in St Albans.....keep looking on flea-bay - i was patient (for once) and got a brand new unit for £650...there are also a couple of good places on the net.
I got the D3 and a BT200 Bluetooth unit (often sold together in the UK - and an amazing piece of kit ) plus a reverse camera which is truly a gimmick but quite fun! I've also got an amp in the luggage compartment and speaker upgrades (possibly not necessary at first). I also hard wired my IPOD into the armrest tray - its a great interface with the Pioneer unit and plug and play.
If you dont have PCM, you will need a new centre console trim piece from Porsche - its (unbeliveably) about £80 but the only other alternative is some quite in-depth cutting and glueing of the existing trim piece which is designed for single din stereos and needs modification to hold the unit in place. The result looks really OEM and I think really sets off the car - the PCM that came with these models was so dreadful compared to modern DVD-driven systems with real time traffic etc etc
Let me know how you get on.....
They aren't litronics (or they would have a small silvery disk on the headlights). They could have re-trofitted HID lights though, you can't tell from a pic.
Rodney,
I thought that silvery disc is for post 2002 vehicles and it covers washing thingy.
(as you can clearly see, I'm proficient with pcars lingo)
Voya
Voya,
Doh! You are absolutely right!
Check the VIL sticker under the bonnet and in the Service book if it has option M601 - Litronics. Then you will know if it was factory fitted when new.
In the picture I do see headlight washers, so they could very well have litronics or may just have headlamp washer option M288
They can be retrofitted complete with headlight washers, but they wouldn't then have automatic headlight beam adjustment, and would not be diagnosable via PST2.
Rodney,
The only reason that I know is when I took 03 911 for test drive one of those silvery things fell of.
Unfortunately I haven't seen the car yet so I don't have access to service book.
Regards Voya
Voya,
You could always call the seller and ask for the whole list of VIL numbers. That's the first thing I do before I even see a car, primarily to make it's C16 (UK spec) and to see the list of factory fitted options. I'm sure the seller would oblige if you asked.
my understanding is that factory fit xenons had to have the washer option because of the higher temperature headlihts so if no washer then no factory xenons-may be retrofit ....
On the subject of built in navigations.
Friend had PCM 1 in the first car. We took it out and fleabayd it for 580£. result.
PCM 2 is well better version of PCM 1. Fleabay again 680£ this time.
Both units were replaced with AVIC units.
Sound 100x better.
Navigation ? Well makes PCM looks like compass. And not very good one at that.
Merc had the same problem with their cd based navi systems. But fortunately they woke up
got Becker to design very good DVD based command and hey presto cars with it are easily sold for £1k more then
cars without.
... update ...
Going to see car on Sunday. Will post more pictures. And get the damn codes. Any advices on what to look for? The car is going for 111pc, so anything else that I need to look for ? rads ?
Also seller is now telling me that some oil changes haven't been done by OPC. Important ? Anyway will post full details of history once I had a look.
Regards Voya
It sounds like a nice car, and not having some services by OPC does not matter as such as long as they are done by a good specialist and on time. I looked at many cars that they told me that the car had a full service history and some of the mileages were 2000 - 3000 out which is not acceptable as far as i am concerned. So many people dont tell you how it is with service history number of owners and condition, i ended up getting people to fax or email me the service history and log book before looking at any cars.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hope all goes well on Sunday.
Thanks for the advice guys. Richard, I've already printed checklist (2 copies, one for me one for friend who's coming to put the brakes on me).
Problem is I don't know if they are good specialists and if they are done on time or late or early. How much does it matter if they are not (you can see that I'm hell bent on getting the car
). Obviously taking into account that it will go on check and be warrantied as condition of sale. And price is such that couple of dealers offered me more money without even seeing the car.
Regards Voya
You should have service stamps at 12, 24, 36 and 48000. If the previous owners were careful about servicing, they would have it done within 1000 miles either side of the deignated intervals. If they are all slightly early it's a good sign.
Difficult to say who are the 'known' specialists, but I would expect them to have "Porsche Specialists" on their stamp, at least. Having said that, if it is the straightforward 12k and 36k Minor service there isn't much to do, other than changing the oil and filters. I'd only be worried if the stamps looked suspicious, or were all by Arthur Daly Motors.
If the price is right, the OPC pass the 111-point check, and you get the warranty, you can't go too far wrong. I'm sure you'll know by looking at it if it has been cared for or neglected.
Richard,
will get all the details tommorow and report here after all unfortunatelly don't have 20+k to throw away.
Dylan, well I was there for him to stop him buying green (yes, I'll spell it G R E E N ) ferrari 355 on noticing crazed look in
his eyes after test drive.
regards Voya
Dylan,
I'm not good pal, I'm just extremely selfish. Knowing that I would end up having the car to myself for ocasional weekend, I just couldn't approve of it.
