Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Porsche used cosmoline on earlier cars like the 3.2 Carrera's but I'm not aware of anything being used on the casings of a 996
Leading evidence: 'Use cosmoline' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looks great for its age but the leak will not get better on its own, best to get it sorted sooner rather than later. Sorting out a small problem now, saves having to sort a bigger and more expensive problem later
In reddit I have one user that is mentioning that the stock anti-aging coating from factory can look like an oil leak if the car still has relatively low miles. In this case the car have 44000 miles. Can it be a correct assumption?
I am not aware of any anti-aging coating from the factory, and if there was I doubt that it would be designed to attract dirt like the oil leak in your photo has.
I had a similar coating of oil there caused by a linking variocam chain tensioner cover and an air-oil separator. Both are common causes of leaks. No oil on the ground though.
If it looks like an oil leak, with these engines it typically is an oil leak
.
I don't think mine had any 'stock anti-aging coating' more's the pity.
As far as I can see the aluminium is supplied bare on these cars. There are many treatments that can improve and protect them though.
Cant quite tell from that photo but it could be the core plug at the edge of the block? If so the core plug is less than £1.50 from Porsche and the indy charged me 30 mins to clear it up and change it (drill out and drift in a new one)
Be interested to hear what your indy says
