Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any indications this is going to happen?? Just want to know.

POST 2Original post

Lots of white "smoke" i.e. coolant out of the exhaust. I didn't get to a full D chunk, but I did have a cracked cylinder from the top down. Keep driving and the crack will work its way back up, hence the D shape.

POST 3Original post

If you were to measure the cylinders and find them going "out-of-round" then you would know the cracking/D-chunk is on the way. You could can see this also if detailed "blow-by" data were performed on the engine since new. An increase in blow-by would indicate the cylinders going out-of-round or rings/cylinders wearing. (see the thread on blow-by test Engine Health as a FWIW). Other than that, as Yaz said, after the cracking starts, the symptoms will show up... Most people just wait for the symptoms to show up and don't worry about what mite happen..

Appreciate the info. Wish you all a great day.
