Suggestion

It left codes that there was an error with the control module, but it wasn’t until it became more of a problem that I could use my Foxwell reader to see that the values of the micro-switches in the door actuator didn't match what the car thought it should be (if that makes sense).

Suggestion · Original poster

The window ‘bounces’ up and down and the only way to stop it is to put the window down a bit using the window switch, but the interior courtesy lights still stay on (have to manually switch them off).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all. An intermittent fault that’s now happening daily. On a 996 cab. My passenger window keeps dropping a bit as if the door is about to be opened and the interior light is staying on. The window ‘bounces’ up and down and the only way to stop it is to put the window down a bit using the window switch, but the interior courtesy lights still stay on (have to manually switch them off). It only does this when the car is unlocked & stationary or driven. It doesn’t happen when locked. I’m suspecting a faulty door microswitch, but unsure if it is or even which one. Could be the one for the exterior handle, interior handle or maybe even something else? Anybody had any experience of this happening to theirs? Or how to prove the fault?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It’s been garaged over winter and unused, & kept dry.

POST 3Original post

Hi, I had this on my coupe and it was one of the door actuator micro switches. Mine was intermittent and seemed temperature related to start with, but gradually got worse. It left codes that there was an error with the control module, but it wasn’t until it became more of a problem that I could use my Foxwell reader to see that the values of the micro-switches in the door actuator didn't match what the car thought it should be (if that makes sense). Cheap eBay replacement actuator solved the problem. The guides on this site were a huge help.

POST 4Original post

It's most likely the one on the external door handle.

That’s great info thanks. I’ll get hold of a reader & see if it shows anything.
