Anyway, I am the relatively- new, second owner of my 2008 Cayman and it has a Dension ipod/aux converter on my CDR24 that the prior owner must have installed a long time ago, when iPods were still a thing.

Just a quick note on this as I haven't seen this device mentioned much on this site or anywhere. I stumbled upon it somewhere else now that I can't recall. Anyway, I am the relatively- new, second owner of my 2008 Cayman and it has a Dension ipod/aux converter on my CDR24 that the prior owner must have installed a long time ago, when iPods were still a thing. I debated installing a bluetooth converter that could tap into the Dension's aux cable but that required a power source (I have something like this, called a JL Audio MBT-RX, in my 1991 Miata that works great). I believe the console power source is always on, so that wasn't an option and I would have needed to dig under the dash. And, I assume the aux approach doesn't allow control with the CDR24 unit itself. So, I ordered this BOVEE thing from Amazon, plugged it into the iPod cable from the Dension, paired it, and works perfect. Sounds great, pairs instantly and seamlessly, and can be controlled with the head unit (by "controlled" I guess I mean move through songs in current playlist/album -- not sure if other controls exist). You can't see song titles on the head unit of course, but this is a pretty good solution if you want the original "button-heavy" look of the CDR24. As much as I would love Apple CarPlay, I just can't bring myself to go with the full glass screen look in this car. Need buttons. $85.
