Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Not really wanting to spend that on something that simple I set about looking for alternatives.
Leading evidence: 'Set about looking' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust length' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

And is there a process to adjust the length for correct adjustment of the lights ?

What I did find with mine was that they needed beams adjusting on the units to get them up a bit anyhow.

I'm not sure, you'd have to check the wiring diagrams to see if the sensors feed a bcu which then tells the headlights how to set or if the sensors feed directly to the lights...

My lenses are also super foggy, I will disassemble and clean the headlamp assembly to get it all back to how it should be.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As part of the winter preservation project on my car I needed to replace the front sensor arm for my litronic headlight level sensor. I was stunned to find out that the part is close to £50. Not really wanting to spend that on something that simple I set about looking for alternatives.
Ideally I would have liked to use nylon and brass ball joint to keep weight down but couldn't find any with boots on.
I eventually bought some metal/nylon ball joints(Ref AMG6) off eBay for £6 apiece and then a couple of pounds on m6 stainless rod and nylock nuts.
It weighs about twice as much as the original but should be a bit more serviceable as well. This will also work on the rear with a longer length of rod.
If you wanted to go lighter and (probably!) more dirt resistant you could do worse than an IGUS rod end:

We use these a lot at work and one of the reps bought in the gear linkage for a 981 which is a moulded IGUS part.
Very light weight too, and not bad price either, actually.
Something of a hijack, but hopefully close enough that you can forgive me:
I have litronics in a car that came with Halogens originally, therefore I don't have the level sensor and associated gubbins - if I got them from a wrecker/OPC are they hard to integrate, or is it all plug-in stuff?

Hi guys, a bit late to the thread I know !!!!!! I need to replace my arm, and am more than happy to make something as you have done. Can I ask the distance between the threads ? And is there a process to adjust the length for correct adjustment of the lights ?
Thanks, any info is a great help to this newbie !!!!
Cheers, Andy
I just measured mine against the 2 broken pieces I took off. No dimensions to hand sorry.
No process to adjust if you match original lengths. What I did find with mine was that they needed beams adjusting on the units to get them up a bit anyhow. The other thing I did that improved thing immensely was take the bulb holder and lens out of the headlights and give them a good clean. My reflectors were still intact but both them and the lens were very foggy.
When I did the Litronic research for my car (and found out about the full beam box and retrofit loom) I stumbled across some guys in the states who had done a full retrofit with all the level sensors etc. I'm a bit of OCD with stuff like this but it looked like such a faff, for very little gain, I gave it a miss. Big job.
Litronic retrofit question
Car is a '99 C2 Previous owner did the Litronic retrofit so the auto-leveling feature is not active. When I hit the highbeams, seem to not be illuminating the far off road as they should so I'm now concerned that the mechanism that adjusts the projector lens is aimed down and consequently narrowe...

Thanks for the reply !!! My only issue is that I only have one half of the broken arm !!!! If anyone out there is under theirs this weekend, a quick measure would be greatly appreciated !
My lenses are also super foggy, I will disassemble and clean the headlamp assembly to get it all back to how it should be. Also sanding and polishing the lenses.
But First I am replacing all the underbody brake lines, going to be fun.
