Suggestion

I'd look on the connector for the pin#, and/or - check the wire colors going to the adjoining pins (#21, blue/green) and the pin on the other side (#23, red/red) to make sure you're picking the correct one.

Suggestion

BTW - it's actually trivial to run the wire from the rear to the front console, and most rear cameras now have a combined video/trigger-signal cable (have a regular wire run in the same sheath) so you only have to route one wire.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hello, I have an '06 Boxster base with Bose premium sound and installing new Sony XAV-AX 5500 HU and using XTRONS Optical Fiber Head Unit Replacement Decoder (looks to be same as DNL Teclink, AVIN, etc...). Used Metra 70-1784 wiring harness and relocated required pins to match factory "A" connector. Constant 12V (red/green), Ground (brown), Power Antenna (blue/white) and ran the Ignition 12V to the fuse panel (D9). Also connected parking brake wire to ground. I have checked my wiring multiple times and appears correct. However, when I plug everything in the radio fuse blows immediately (tried a few times). Any thoughts? Thanks, Ed

POST 4Original post

Ed, Well - glad to hear this - but it's totally worthless to anyone who has the same issue. Can you kindly elucidate just a bit on how it was SOLVED!? This isn't Facebook - we like to keep track of issues and solutions in the hope that someone might find them of value in the future if they have the same issues. TIA!

POST 5Original post

Hi, I'm a little confused, the Rear Control Module (RCU) under the driver's seat has three connectors. The "A" 23 pin connector supposedly contains the backup (reverse) signal designated as Pin 22 and is black/blue. Problem is that there are two wires that look to be these colors. I have not been able to find an illustration of the connector pin numbering which would allow me to locate the right pin. Looking for any help or suggestions. I need to access reverse signal from cockpit because using wireless coupling to avoid having to route wiring through the engine bay. May have to resort to testing the pins to determine correct one. Can't even figure out how to remove the connector from RCU. Thanks, Ed

POST 6Original post

Hi Ed, It's likely that it remained the same, but the info I can give you is for a 2009 Boxster . On a computer browser, right click on the image to open in a new window where it appears full size.. As you said, pin 22 appears to be the one you're looking for.. I'd look on the connector for the pin#, and/or - check the wire colors going to the adjoining pins (#21, blue/green) and the pin on the other side (#23, red/red) to make sure you're picking the correct one. BTW - it's actually trivial to run the wire from the rear to the front console, and most rear cameras now have a combined video/trigger-signal cable (have a regular wire run in the same sheath) so you only have to route one wire. Mine goes from the right taillight, to behind the fussy trunk liner, to up and over the top of the engine hump, then down behind the carpeting that covers the firewall, then horizontally along the seam between the firewall carpeting and the floor carpeting, to under the edge of the center console, up forwards to the area behind the radio opening. It takes longer to describe the routing than to do it. Good luck. I see you have another thread on this same install. Perhaps these should be merged - I'll think about doing that. And I'd ask that you visit New Member Introductions and tell us all about you and your Boxster. Some photos of it would be great. Welcome to Planet-9, the Friendly Porsche Forum..
