Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All I removed my 996 from its storage tent. its been there 2 years, on a trickle charger. The car was driven a couple of hundred meters and started blowing oil out the back under the car. I dont know where its comming from but i have lost brakes and possible power steering. The oil is dropping out of the middle of the car see pics attached. Any idea whats wrong ?

POST 2Original post

Very typical in classic car ownership. People leaving for prolonged periods....... Assuming it was all OK when stored up then; I'd imagine the above seals have dried up(lost their 'seal') and leaving an escape route. Either carry out a thorough service or book her in with someone before taking her out for a blast

POST 3Original post

Cauld be many things and it's always difficult to diagnose over the internet but first thoughts are If it's engine oil it could be the breather hose at the top of the oil tank, which is becoming an increasingly common problem. If it's power steering fluid it could be one of the power steering lines or maybe the clutch slave cylinder which is powered from the power steering pump and is above that area! Have a look and see if the level in the power steering reservoir is low. Check the engine oil level too if it's possible to get it warm enough without too much oil coming out! Even better get it trailered to a decent indy.
