MP3 Player - It can also play wma files etc... It can play videos and dvds
if you want it, but I don't recommend it. 1. DVD drive is an extra power and mounting concern, 2. You shouldn't watch movies and drive.
Phone Control - Available at

This is one hyper cool piece of software. Since Porsche didn't provide us with Bluetooth connectivity to our phones, I setup the carputer to correct that mistake. This software can control your phone via bluetooth and (if you run a microphone into the cockpit) allow you to take calls over the speakers/mic. It can also just control the phone functions (dialing, sms, etc) and allow you to use a bluetooth headset, or just hold the phone and talk.
Digimoto Gauges - Digimoto makes kick butt OBD2 software.

You can display gauges, trouble codes, etc, etc, What is cool is the quarter mile and dyno aspects. Haven't really played with them much, but will soon.

That's it in a nutshell. This is
my third carputer, it definitely gets easier the more you do it. An invaluable
resource is the forum at

You're going to get a lot of hazing here about the CS being a driver's car and the engine is the only sound you need...
but GREAT JOB man! Way to show these people that Porsche electronics are no more complicated than other cars'.
If it was me, I would have probably at least have used a wired FM modulator, doesn't require cutting, just a simple adapter; just so you don't get any interference. All in all though, a great way to add some modern conveniences to the car. I've only done one carputer in my friend's TL, similar to that install and we used a wired FM modulator and modified his cd-holder slide out tray to support a half-din flip out screen. I was going to change my headunit to an AVIC-Z1, or similar, but since last Friday when I got the AWE exhaust put in, I havn't even turned on the stereo... one day though perhaps.

Engine Sound
Yeah, I thought about adressing that issue at the outset. I've seen that attitude on the forum here on more than one occasion. For those who want to listen to the engine for long drives, be my guest. I'd prefer my mp3s.
Nice job and very clean. I don't spend enough time in my car to want a computer running there, but it looks good. Now if only you had chosen linux .....
