Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys Being new to the world of Porsche excuse my possible lack of knowledge in advance but I have gone to check the oil levels and it says I have to wait 59 minutes with the ignition on. Is this correct ?

POST 2Original post

Hi yes - it will say that if you have recently started the engine since the oil is now distributed around the engine and would not provide an accurate reading. It should be the case that from cold, on the first time you turn the key in the ignition .. but not start the car, that the oil measurement occurs in about 3 secs. I always do that check when I first get in the car and before I drive off. Enjoy your C4S .. it looks just like mine ! Phil T 996 C4S 2004, Silver, Black Leather

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

cheers phil will try again later with more patience [ ]

POST 4Original post

I also get this message once in blue moon about 59 mins most of the time its 5 secs

POST 5Original post

The computer is confussed. AS other say check ITS ON LEVEL GROUND and then carry out the test. Max 10 seconds if its not been running. If its the standard 911 you can also use the dip stick
