One of the only options I really cared for on the
Cayman
was the PCM, and I was not able to find a bare bone
Cayman
with PCM.
Is it possible to have the dealer install a factory PCM in my
Cayman
after it has been built? Has anyone here considered or even done that? Is there any other cheaper alternatives to have the PCM installed by the dealer? ( I really don't want to have another one of those stand alone units, as I feel they are not as aesthetically pleasing to the/my eyes)
Thanks
i think i've seen somewhere that the OEM PCM couldn't be done. not 100% sure
Yes, we talked about it in this thread
http://www.planet-9.com/showthread.php?t=6392&highlight=pcm+installed
and others. The long and short of it is that it will cost $3700 for parts and $1000 for labor. There are places that will do xm with that too.
Thanks.... I'll look into the other thread... but $4,700 seems way too expensive.
I'm going to be doing an install article on this shortly so that will save you some $$$ right there, and you can source the parts for less if you try hard enough.
Wow.....Thanks Guys.....!!!
will be looking for your article
PCM - dealer
I orderd my car with PCM upfront and it was additional $3000, OK.
Friend of mine wanted it after he has received his car and asked the dealir that he missed this option and would lime to put it in now. Dealer replied as yes it is possible but price will go up to $10000 as many other things that follow need to be instaled along with PCM unit. Obviously my friend did not need to think further.
You might be better off with your dealer... GOOD LUCK
My dealer qutoed $7,500 all in. (Doohhhhh!!!)
I can't wait to see your write up. I have the PCM, I just need to do some installing.
Gmorat.
Gmorat...
where did you get your PCM Unit...?? how much was it?
any recommendations on where I can get it for a more reasonable price than what the dealer is asking for?
Hey.
I bought it on Ebay with the Nav drive for $1600 on Ebay. It isn't an exact match as far as the serial number goes but I'm told that it should work. I bought all the nav stuff separately as well, the disc, the GPS antenna and all the wiring harnesses but I just can't see me using/needing it so I'll probably sell that stuff on as a nav package but keep the PCM so that I can get my ipod installed.
If you haven't ordered your car yet my recommendation is that you get it installed if you think that you may like it as its a PITA to sort this crap out later.
G.
I had the PCM retrofitted to my
Cayman S
. $3700 for PCM from
Suncoast
, $700 installation at my dealer. It seems to work fine, except that the adjustments to rear wiper and lights do not appear. Perhaps I need updated software- I am going to ask my dealer.
