We all complained of the small buttons of the standard radio. Today I found something interesting for the radios withouth navigation systems. Notice the lines between the stations (or the tract number when on CD mode). Those lines are there for more than just pointing to the station presets. The way to press the small buttons is to first place your fingure on the line corresponding to the station or CD tract and than slide your fingure down untill you press the small button corresponding to the staion preset or CD tract. You will find you instently hit the correct small button and you don't have to even look at the small buttons. Very easy to do and safer the looking for the right button while driving. If you try it you will find that you instantly always hit the correct button without even looking for the button below it.
Hmm..interesting. I'll give that a try...thanks.
skup, how did you figure that one out? It works!
Thanks for the tip. It is a little hard to hit the right track/radio preset buttom.
I'm gonna give that a try
You are very perceptive. Those little buttons have been an irritant from the beginning. Good catch. Thanks for the tip.
It never made sence to me that Porsche would have designed it to be hard to use. I was looking at the radio one day while sitting in it while parked in the garage and the lines finaly made sence. It was obvious that the lines were there for more than just pointing. It is a simple feature that Porsche addded to allow for all the preset buttons they included. I can now drive and pick my CD tract, CD from the changer, or radio station with barely a look at the radio and without looking at the small buttons.
Great observation. Tried it today and very helpful. Now, do you have any helpful hints for night time use (ie lines don't light up?)
.
Thanks for the pointer!

You are right but I find if you touch just below the station preset and slide down it still works at night. It would have been great if those lines were lighted. The trick is not to focus on the small buttons.
The knowledge on this site never ceases to amaze me, thanks for sharing!!
