Hello,
I bought a
Cayman S
987.2
a month ago and have been researching steering wheel upgrades here and there since. After many hours I am finally giving up and asking for help as I really can't find the answers to my questions and I'm not the kind of person that can just "wing it".
My car is
PDK
with
Sports Chrono
Plus (if that matters) and I have the standard, round air bag,
PDK steering wheel
with no multi-function buttons.
Regarding steering wheels that will fit; my understanding is that any steering wheel with the yellow/orange main
plug
will fit, whereas newer models (like 2019) have a fully yellow
plug
and that requires a different loom to fit.
With that in mind I've found a yellow/orange
plug
MF steering wheel listed as "
Porsche
Cayenne
92A,
Macan
95B | 95B419091";
My questions are;
Am I right in thinking the Horn / Airbag / Paddles will work "out the box"? I've see quite a few posts saying coding is required for 987.1 cars but 987.2s should be fine.
Getting the MF buttons to work, as I don't have MF - is this just coding via PIWIS? Or do I need an adapter like the "GPS" adapter?
Regarding the air bag connections; I'm going to hazard a guess I have yellow & green plugs whereas this will be yellow and brown - is there any worry about using the green plug in the brown one?
Many Thanks,
S
The steering wheel in the photos you posted will
plug
in fine, you cannot reuse your current airbag, you need one that is shown in the photo. Multifunction controls will not work, you need the
gps
adapter and
PIWIS
coding to enable them. Another option is to buy a steering wheel without MF controls.
I actually have one for sale (with airbag), message me if you are interested
gpsadapter
Upgrade your Porsche steering wheel with GPS Adapter. Explore Adapter-X V2, STMV1 and STMV1-H, check OEM compatibility and find installation support.

Thanks for the replies, apologies I'm late getting back.
Appreciate the info here. I decided not to buy the wheel in the end - instead I'm going to upgrade the audio first (need
Android Auto
back in my life) but it looks like it's less hassle to upgrade the steering wheel than I thought so that's good.
Appreciate the offer on the wheel but I'll pass for now, glws!
@olegd
if you have the wheel still please let me know. I’m interested.
@olegd
Is it still available? Can you please PM me? Thanks
