Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The original Litronic controller had 3 part #s, 996-618-151-15, 996-618-051-09, and 996-618-051-10. The retrofit controller is designated 000-044-900-38, and has been since 2000 when the TSB for Litronic retrofits was published. They're exactly the same part. I have both an original (996-618-051-10 for reference) and a retrofit module (000-044-900-38), and both behave exactly the same. The original can be used without level sensors and with the retrofit harness, and the retrofit module can be used with level sensors. Further, if you peel the labels (one stacked on top of another) on the retrofit module, you can find an original part number under it (pics attached). I've seen some confusion on whether or not they were any different, hope this helps to clear it up. So, to be clear, all 4 of these part numbers seem interchangeable. I at first thought that the retrofit module might have been programmed differently, but now that I've seen it work with level sensors, I don't think they did anything other than slap a new sticker on it. So, just as a tip for anyone retrofitting Litronics, don't pay Porsche $700 for the complete kit, pay them about $100 for the wiring harness (or don't if you can find an OEM litronic harness with sensors, or are brave enough to make your own) and buy a used control module. I got mine on eBay for $20 with a mounting bracket that the retrofit forgoes for Velcro. If you do insist on buying new parts, the PNs for the original module seem to be ~$100 cheaper than the retrofit module. Hope this helps save some people time and/or money.
