Hi all.
So I’ve just bought some PSS9 coil over that I hope to arrive this week.
Would love to hear some feedback from whose who have them and use them on the road.
Typically I only drive on country roads that are less then perfect here in the UK. I’m hoping these coil overs with a proper set up for these condition will provide confident inspiring handling when pushing on a bit in the corner.
Hi, I have the damptronics on my 06S and they are fantastic, in normal mode so much better performing than stock and when turned on, very good for DE/AutoX. I did put a more aggressive rear camber on the rear for better cornering, and the height is perfect.
Good luck.
Hey, so I'm running the PSS9
B16
adjustable setup from
Bilstein
and absolutely love them. I do track my '07
Cayman S
and then track setting (1) is very stiff and the car handles like it's on rails with very little body roll and after talking with a few other Cayman guys in NASA with me that are running other setups (KW, PSS10's, Ohlens) that are more "adjustable" or "higher quality" than the PSS9, they haven't been able to convince me yet that the extra money is worth it. Plus, when you tune them down to (9) or the softest setting, they're very forgiving on the street when hitting potholes and bumps but still give great control and feel when having some fun during a spirited afternoon drive. Even on the softest setting for the road, they're still a great option.
Now, with them being height adjustable, mine came out of the box ready to lower my car about 1.25 inches or 30mm which was fine with me as I wanted the drop for racing...but if you're going to be doing more road driving than racing, I'd suggest raising the ride height before you even throw them on and then you can lower it to your liking from there. I'm sure you've already noticed this since your post is 5 months old but thought I'd throw it out there.
Overall, great choice, you won't be disappointed for spirited drives or if you end up tracking your car.
PSS9 are good for a couple of years, then they wear out. I've had my Ohlin DFV R&T's since they became available for the 987 in May of 2017. I use 5-6 f clicks and 4-5 clicks r for the track and 17 clicks for the street. Spring rate is 400 lbs/in f and 458 lbs/in r.. You can really notice the compression and rebound difference when setting up the car.
Then added Tarett Cup LCA's, Tarett GT sway bars and down links. This whole kit has been on the car for 6 years and 35000 miles without failure. Same with the motor although I recently upgraded my oil pan to Hartech from LN 2 QT deep sump. I upgraded the OEM
AOS
in 2019 to the Porsche
MotorSports AOS
and have had no issues. I use
Motul 300V
Competition 5W40 which provides great lower end bearing wear protection, bore scoring boundary film protection and no timing chain noise. Oil change every 3500 miles.
I do have a skid plate from LN/BLT that has a couple of marks in it from speed bumps
