Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The only post I could find was to "lower the top as far as it will go, and disconnect the rear of the top from the attachments, then the user manual will tell you the rest".

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got a damaged 2012 997.2 where the airbags are out and the roll hoops are up. I'm trying to find out how to get the hoops "down". I don't have the manual. The only post I could find was to "lower the top as far as it will go, and disconnect the rear of the top from the attachments, then the user manual will tell you the rest". It says it's easy, once you know how. I don't know how. Anyone? Thanks!

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wanted to bump this to the top, see if anyone has an idea. I took out the back panel and there's an allen wrench in between the hoops. Must be for lowering them. I don't see any place for it to adjust. Anyone?

POST 3Original post

The allen wrench is for manual operation of the top. The roll hoops are released by inserting the jack handle (or a screw driver) into the latch about 2/3 of the way down along one side of each hoop and pushing it down while holding the latch released. The latch is a little like the latch on a screen door cylinder. DO NOT get your face or any other breakable part of your body above the hoop while pushing it down!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

FBB111, yeah that sounds like the instruction I heard for the 996. I posted on a different forum and got a suggestion that work, and very easy. The little black lever (circled in red) on top gets pushed to the right and then push down on the hoops. And yes, if you let go half way, it pops back up. Hopefully, this will help other in the future since there is so little on it. Thanks for the input.
