I'm now considering replacing all speakers as that's what I'm seeing is advised for the PCCM+ which I plan to install.

If you're using the factory amplifier, then you'll need a 2-ohm 5 1/4" drivers for the doors..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Where might I look to find this? Crutchfield is great and all but I'm having trouble identifying exactly what I need. It's on the passenger side if that makes a difference, the vehicle is a '99 Carrera with the hi-fi sound package. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

If you're using the factory amplifier, then you'll need a 2-ohm 5 1/4" drivers for the doors.. Crutchfield sells PowerBass speakers with a 2-ohm impedance. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-Ge6TJJ...AaAuWhEALw_wcB

POST 3Original post

Another aftermarket 2 ohm from Harman... https://www.crutchfield.com/p_108P50...IS.html?tp=105

POST 4Original post

2.7 ohms are close enough but will either of these choices fit in the door locations without too much modifications?

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 18036377

no modifications necessary. Direct fit to the door speaker enclosures.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18036343

I believe that's the case, I reattached the panel though so I can't measure! Does this look correct to you?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is what comes up when I add either of those to my cart, is there much information on how to rectify these things? Just trying to get a sense of how much complication these warnings will actually add. Thank you!!

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 18036420

No, it doesn't look needed. Did you make that panel and modify the speaker?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not sure if it's added, I purchased the vehicle as-is. I'm now considering replacing all speakers as that's what I'm seeing is advised for the PCCM+ which I plan to install. Any recommendations? Thanks for your help man

POST 10Original post

First of all, the panel and speaker in the image are definitely NOT stock. The original factory speaker enclosure should look something similar to the one in this image below (ref: light blue arrows) I would encourage you to replace that speaker and see if there is still an enclosure in the door. If not, purchase one on eBay. Next, if you're planning to move to the PCCM+ and have confirmed that your system is in fact the "HiFi option" with the amplifier in the frunk, then you're going to have purchase a Hi/LO adapter because at the point of writing this post, Porsche has not explained how to the enable the proper output line level analog signal to the older non-MOST amplifiers. This was originally done by taking a LINE LEVEL output from the YELLOW plug, but for some reason, no instructions are included with the new PCCM+ on how to make this happen. Therefore, people with analog systems (with frunk amps) are having to convert the SPEAKER LEVEL output from the new PCCM+ and feed it to the amp. There is a well established thread here on Rennlist that will explain it in detail. Now getting back to the speaker. If you plan to retain the factory amp, then you'll need to purchase a new 2-ohm speaker as I've listed or replace it with a used OEM one OR purchase a new OEM driver from Porsche parts. A lot of the parts are no longer available (for many reasons), and so you need to use the part# to check your local Porsche dealership or to search the internet. https://www.porscheatlantaperimeterp...chTerm=speaker https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...645-501-00-OEM

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got it. Thank you so much for that info. As far as it having Hi-Fi, I can't personally identify the amp in the frunk but the VIN of the vehicle indicates the Hi-Fi option. All the additional steps feel a little intimidating, is it a reasonable endeavor to pursue with little to no prior experience? I'm considering delegating the work to a dealership or my vehicles' seller

POST 12Original post

ECS Turning has the original speakers for $58 each. Part # is 99664550100 (for up to and including 2002) . Most others are selling them for double or triple. Update: I received my speakers from ECS Tuning and they are indeed the factory Hi-Fi 2 ohm door subs. I don't need them currently but I figured I'd get a set for when the time comes to replace them.
