Suggestion

Hand glazes are very good at 'filling' the scratches but you will need to wax after applying the glaze.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I returned to my car at the station car park today and someone has scratched the bonnet and both front wings.... seems they have dragged something over the front of my car!!! No CCTV and all the other (3) cars seemed ok...Audi A4, 350Z, and some sort of beemer (I got to my car at 6pm) So I washed the car...luckily the scratches are not too deep...have used Miguires X scratch remover...has sorted most of them out - but can still see some of them. Some Q's.. - Anything better out there to use? - How much force can I use? is the paint thin? cheers guys.

POST 2Original post

I am so sorry to hear this ! Scum is right.. G will be the man to ask !! I would try some hand glaze ?? I think you can get it from most halford ect...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks...I'll try halfords and there is aplace opposite it which might do something. Does anyone know what the stuff garages use? its like T-cut but have never managed to see the label? (Random, I know)

POST 4Original post

Feel for you, mate. Don't know what to suggest other than a day off work and a shotgun. If the little c@*t tries it again, then both barrels would be fair.

POST 5Original post

We use (to get marks out) 3M - Fast Cut (to remove a light to med scratch) 3M - Hand Glaze (to remove light scratches and swirls) 3M - 01344 858000 (T) G may tell you something different ! But I have always found the above removes marks and light scratches very well on dark colour cars.. You'll need to apply a wax after don't forget !

POST 6Original post

Before you try and use something like that get a decent detailer who specialises in Paint Correction to have a look. Hopefully Gurcharn will be along shortly. The best over the counter product is Meguiars Scratch-X, the next level will be to machine polish with Menzerna products. Hand glazes are very good at 'filling' the scratches but you will need to wax after applying the glaze. Rule of thumb, if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail get a pro to go through the options with you.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys, I can feel the scratch's at the bottom of the door pillar, but can probably live with those for the time being....was more concerned about the bonnet, I can't feel the scratch but can see it...so will see if I can get the 3m stuff... wil keep you all updated.

POST 8Original post

Get G on it- when he did my car he measured the paint depth and found the paint was already very thin in places, so further polishing could have worn out the clearcoat.
