Got it done at Porsche Bournemouth as the self cancelling of the indicators had disintegrated and was making some interesting noises so needed to be replaced under warranty.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have just gone through the annual will it won't pass feeling..... Got it done at Porsche Bournemouth as the self cancelling of the indicators had disintegrated and was making some interesting noises so needed to be replaced under warranty. Passed the MOT fine, but a delay on the replacement parts have meant I have had their loan Cayman for 3 days. Only a 2.7, but I was amazed at how quick it felt, great handling and it sounds awesome above 4500rpm, I am sure his is because the engine is only a few inches behind the seat, but it has made me realise that having to wind the windows down in the 911 to hear the noise means that I should be thinking about the PSE. Downside - the plastic on the dash is like a Ford Ka and roof lining like a Kia. A good every day drive but it felt like a BMW 3 series coupe with more driveway cachet, it just didn't have any soul or sense of occasion that is guaranteed everytime with the 996. Anybody driven the Cayman S?

POST 2Original post

Not driven a Cayman S, but used to have a Boxster S - the same but less stiff! Yes, the engine noise above 4,500 is lovely, isn't it! I used to turn down the Bose hi-fi so I could enjoy it more! Better sound than the 996 IMHO, but yes, you're right it doesn't have quite the same soul.

POST 3Original post

Chris Harris, a journo whose opinion is usually spot on, reckons the 2.7 is a much underated car as it allows you to really exploit its performance without doing silly numbers. Also the smaller wheels make the handling/steering better. I quite fancied a cayman S til I realised that less money would buy an older 996C4S and a PSE!

POST 4Original post

Talking of Chris Harris, did anyone see the Autocar DVD with him driving various Porsche including a new LMP2 Spider. That guy can drive. Also the article in the latest GT Porsche with him driving in the Ring 24 hrs. Having seen the race on Motors TV, you can see why they call it the Green Hell - racing in the fog, that's just bonkers :?

POST 5Original post

Tried a Cayman S and was very impressed with it, apart from the cheap interior. I have heard that RUF are doing a 400 bhp Cayman for about 80,000 Euro's. Now that could be one hell of a car 8)

POST 6Original post

Would give a GT3 a run for it's money. Although I thought it was £80K.
