Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

my wife drives mercs,i dont want to drive your 996 it looks to much like hard work i will stick to my car she said, yes your right dear it is hard work plus other people act like idiots when near you i laugh to myself nice one pete. so its time for the yearly service at opc just turned 19k minor service not to bad on the old wallet, but im stuck in work so cannot get there myself and dont want to miss the time slot so like an IDIOT what do i do,phone the wife, will you take my 996 for service at opc bolton as im stuck in work no problem she says. 4 hours later phone call from opc hi pete your cars done, great whats the damage i ask remembering its just the minor service, erm just hold on says the nice opc man just short of 850 pounds,oh no i only was having the minor service ah yes sir but we also replaced your brake fluid, and your wife purchased a suede and leather hand bag and a porsche cigarette lighter and put them on your bill. so i pick the car up pay the nice man get home and say have a nice day love, yes she replies got some nice things from the nice porsche man and put them on your bill because you lied to me,your car is dead easy to drive, well you can sell my merc and get me one the one with the glass roof in the showroom. asume the position

POST 2Original post

I think your wife has just 'owned' you there mate!! Never mind - pass her your 996 as she likes it so much and get a 997 GT2 on order to make up for her handbag 'extravagance'! 8)

POST 4Original post

Had to laugh at this.... I had a similar thing.... Before the Porker I had an tuned EVO and my wife drove it once, hated it and managed to curb the alloy  so we both agreed she would NOT drive it. Anyway, when the 996 arrived, I said the same "terrible to drive, just like the EVO - not for you dear" - thinking of my unmarked alloys and carpark dent free exterior. Anyway, her mate comes around, who's husband had a Boxter saying how nice and easy they were to drive just like a BMW..... next thing she had taken it on a test drive, liked it, then gone off shopping in it with her mate  parking it in an M&S carpark. Now she wants to try a Boxster and poss sell her Jag. And... I have lost brownie points for, as she sees it, trying to keep her from using it....

POST 5Original post

Classic...    I got around that one by insuring it for me to drive only!!!

POST 6Original post

Is there nothing sacred left in this world - this is why it's called man and machine - man's best friend etc... oooooh I'm gonna pay dearly for this lol...

POST 8Original post

Better still a 964 RS (LHD) No power steering and not much steering lock - she won't be able to drive it

POST 10Original post

Better still, anything with a pre G50 gearbox (early 3.2, SC etc). Now there's a real man's drive.

POST 11Original post

my missus isnt even allowed to move my 996 on the drive. in facy i try not to let her and the kids in the babe as all they do is make crumbs and drop litter. i just tell her "stay off !"

POST 12Original post

Laughed out loud when i read this, so missus came over to see what i was laughing about. Guess who wants a handbag now  since she will no longer drive the car since i put that silly exhaust on

POST 13Original post

But 996`s are easy to drive, Im sure that was one of the main priorities in its brief to lure drivers from mercs and bms. IMO what makes the 911 so good is that despite being easy to drive it ALSO rewards those that can drive with super steering feel, agile front end, dodgy rear balance and fantastic body control over challenging roads.

POST 14Original post

Eek! They do handbags - best keep that one very quiet (and think myself lucky the local OPC display wasn't noticed). The problem with not putting her on the insurance is I've found that adding my wife to it generally _reduces_ the premium - however my Impreza was too fast, 535 too big and the Elise is too basic (and scary with no driver aids at all) so she never drives them anyway.

POST 15Original post

I'm quite tickled by this thread. I actually quite like my wife driving my cars, seeing her rinsing boy racers in everything I've owned cracks me up. PLus, its kinda sexy..... I reckon she's technically a much better driver than I am!
