it could most likely the rubber seals are worn, after 7 years, rattles do occur....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I have a rattle in the roof, which sounds like the roof panels aren't fitted properly. If my passenger pushes the roof while I drive it goes away, or if I open back the sunroof it goes away, neither of which are perfect solutions... Anyone come across this before, and know how I might fix it? Thanks Shaun

POST 2Original post

it could most likely the rubber seals are worn, after 7 years, rattles do occur.... if you are pushing up the panel to achieve a fit then it is a rubber seal that needs renewing

POST 3Original post

Very common I believe my 2002 Coupe has the same problem. There is even a Porsche TSB to tell the service engineers how to fix it I understand from reading the Renntech forum. One of those jobs I have been meaning to do for ages - trouble is it will involve removing the headlining - and from experience with other cars it never goes back as well!

POST 4Original post

Its plastic cassette/rails that the roof runs back into - hence it stops when the roof is opened - more than that I don't know untill I have it apart!

POST 5Original post

mine has the same rattle....I now just open the window and floor it to get rid of the rattle sound

POST 6Original post

That's not a rattle. For real rattles, try a Targa

POST 7Original post

I must be one of the only ever 993 targa owners who needs had a rattling roof !

POST 8Original post

But look how much it cost you to get it sorted when it did go.
