I was speaking to somebody from a local race team tuner and they were telling me that the SuperSprint exhaust was the best quality and performance producer for Porsches. He said, Tubi exhausts are better for Ferraris. Thoughts?
I'm also probably gonna de-snork and chip it this coming week. GIAC was an option, but im not into 'flashes' the company that's doing my software is gonna reprogram it, and it will be a 1 time job, completely invisible to the scan tool.
Henry
who is doing your ecu programing?
Alegra Motorsport....they have a couple of options. Call Theo there and ask him to explain it to you. Let me know what you think after talking to him.
Henry
Just to clear up a misconception about GIAC that you seem to have, GIAC creates new programming for your ECU and your ECU is flashed with their software, then at a quality tuner your car is tweaked using their flash for optimum performance. GIAC has flashes for lots of combos of intakes, exhausts, etc. but it is up to the tuner that does the flash to complete the job by properly tuning after the initial flash is done. You'll see an article here about the details likely next week sometime if you want to wait until then to get the details.
As far as the best quality of exhaust for Porsches that varies by model, for example some people here seem to be high on the Tubi exhaust for the Cayman S, but the Tubi exhaust on the 996 turbo was one of the worst. There was recently a Cayman exhaust shoot out in Europe (waiting on someone to send me the scan of the article/results) and evidently ALL of them in the test had problems of one sort of another. We are going to be testing the Miltek exhaust shortly and reporting on it and we're happy to test others as well, perhaps the manufacturers will donate some units for a shoot out of our own!
<div>K-man is correct...IT ALL DEPENDS. </div>
<div></div>
<div>Designing and making an exhaust is not as easy as bending pipe and adding cans. The reputable companies put a lot of time and work into their exhaust, dyno testing over and over. Getting the right mix of power, sound and no resonance is the key and can be tricky and time consuming. I have done tons of research on exhausts through the years and I have come to the conclusion 'it all depends'</div>
<div></div>
<div>SuperSprint makes excellent exhausts that are all stainless steel, however, not to long ago they had some issues with headers cracking but I think they solved those. They are Italianand usually produce a very nice even tone sound.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Tubi, is Italian and make great exhausts for Lambos and Ferarris. I love how they sound as well, but sound is very subjective. I've heard the Tubi sound excellent on the Cayman. </div>
<div></div>
<div>Milltek make very good sounding exhausts as well, but I am not as familiar with their Porsche exhausts but they are know to rule the Audi crowd and rightly so, they sound amazing on the Audi. </div>
<div></div>
<div>I'm surprised I haven't seen anything yet from German makers so far like Eisenmann. I don't know if Speedart or Techart are German or not but seem to be very nice. </div>
<div></div>
<div>Ok sorry for the diatribe. Bototm line is SuperSprint make very very nice exhausts and would love to hear the Cayman version.</div>

I asked my service rep at the dealership this same question regarding exhaust's last week. He called around for me and Tubi was the way to go. I was glad to hear that because that was the direction I was leaning towards anyways. I'm sure Miltek and SS are very good exhaust systems, but since I don't have much experience with different exhaust setups I have to go on the word of my service rep and those in this forum who have spoken very highly of the Tubi exhaust. I should have it installed by Thursday (if it arrives on-time) and would be than happy to give you an update.
Please give an update with pictures and a sound clip pleeease. Thanks
