Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The cost (about 7 years ago when I last used them) was about 5 times that but at the time that was a bargain because they were supposed to have the best rig in the UK and were being used by performance car specialists and race teams from all over the UK.
Leading evidence: 'Use by performance car specialists and race teams' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check they do (how much is it)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I've used Micheldever Tyres on previous cars because:

Fortunate in having JZM just up the road - and have only heard good things about the geo check they do (how much is it)?

A worthwhile item to do - they recommend every couple of years.

Have a feeling mine's never been done and, as I'm replacing tyres this year would make sense.

On a 911, however, it's a different story - the car is exceptionally sensitive to small adjustments in geo, and it requires a Porsche expert to be able to set a geo on a 911 correctly to allow even tyre wear/optimised handling/etc.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I noticed when my old tyres came off that the inside edges of the fronts were quite badly worn (to the extent there was no tread on the inner most 10% of the tyre).
I did know they were worn (didn't know quite the extent) as the techinian at the OPC when I had the PPI highlighted it but said it was quite normal on C4.
My question now though is; is it normal? as I have 4 nice shiney new tyres, should I have the geometry checked and setup?
Is it a geo job or could it just be a more basic kwik fit type alignment check.
Fortunate in having JZM just up the road - and have only heard good things about the geo check they do (how much is it)?
Am I becoming a tyre bore :?
Thanks
OPC Tonbridge recommend every 2 years, though if you track the car, you'll give it more abuse on the curbs and if you drive in SE London where the roads are mostly like third world farm tracks (why do I pay my council tax?) you'll upset it even quicker. After being done, the steering feels so much more responsive and precise.
Just got the car back from having the geometry done and I must say it has made quite a difference.
Nothing was greatly out but the handling is noticably improved
Far as I can work out from the documents I got with the car its never been done before -so first time in 4 1/2 years.
Had it done at the Reading OPC.
A worthwhile item to do - they recommend every couple of years.
What did the OPC charge?
I've used Micheldever Tyres on previous cars because:
1. It's a nice drive down the A303 to get there.
2. They only charge £30 while you wait.
Ade,
I think it would be inappropriate to describe these guys as a "tyre shop" well worth a visit if you are down that way. It is true they are in the middle of no where but they are or at least were the UK's largest independent tyre company with the facilities and trained staff (hundreds of them) to match.
Sorry Sean, but no matter how many tyres Micheldever's sell (and yes, their superb rep goes before them), they are still a tyre shop.
Many tyre shops can do tracking/geo adjustments on standard cars, but to what settings they are setting them is bit of a mystery. I would probably trust them to do an 'acceptable geo' on my Honda, but that's because the Honda is not very sensitive to geo.
On a 911, however, it's a different story - the car is exceptionally sensitive to small adjustments in geo, and it requires a Porsche expert to be able to set a geo on a 911 correctly to allow even tyre wear/optimised handling/etc.
The labour required to do a proper geo on a 911 is certainly more than £30 worth of labour in any shop.
I agree they will not be doing a 3d geo for £30. The cost (about 7 years ago when I last used them) was about 5 times that but at the time that was a bargain because they were supposed to have the best rig in the UK and were being used by performance car specialists and race teams from all over the UK.
I've just had my geo done this morning at Ninemeister in Warrington.
They have a brand new laser alignment machine that (if the technician is to be believed) is the only one in the North West, including the official OPC who are still waiting for the same piece of kit.
Took just over an hour at a cost of £75 inc VAT.
I was amazed at just how specific the measumements were.
Only had a short drive from there to work so haven't had a chance to play properly just yet, but the geo allied to my new Michelins that were fiitted yesterday should make for a nice drive home tonight.
I had mine done last week - £70 for the set up and then a further 3 hours as each corner was out slightly. Car was 4 years old and doubt it had ever been done before. Total cost was £250.
Can anyone reccomend somewhere for a good geo set up on a boggo C2 in London? Have a feeling mine's never been done and, as I'm replacing tyres this year would make sense.
Cheers,
Chris
A full geo + corner weight costs in the region of £250+ from most Porsche specialists simply because of the labour involved.
A full geo will involve checking and adjusting:
1) camber (front)
2) camber (rear)
3) toe (front)
4) toe (rear)
5) caster (front)
6) ride height
7) corner weight
A simple check and fewer adjustments will cost less, but make sure you know what you're getting.
