I suspect the problem may be the inflatable bubbles under the bolsters and they may not have put enough leather in the seat to cover the expansion when the bolster is filled with air thereby stressing the leather, it looks more like "stretch marks" when you look at it and the skin has pulled away from itself.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Prepping my car for the winter and noticed that the leather is breaking down on the side bolster of the passenger seat. I suspect it is from friction from the seat belt when engaged by a passenger, Its actually cracked already and ive only had the vehicle since July. Is there a warranty covering the leather seats?

POST 2Original post

I'm getting that on the drivers seat-back side-bolster. Maybe it is from the belt or getting in and out. The dealership pointed it out to me when I stopped by one day, as I hadn't really noticed. They told me that it is covered under warranty, but that it wold either be dyed or the seat replaced. He said not to worry about it; but to wait until my warranty period was nearing termination and then get it fixed. Good advice, I'd sqay - as long as I don't forget ...

POST 3Original post

My dealer hasnt seen the seat yet, as I live 5 hours away and have parked the car for the winter, but i did send them a pic via email. Their initial response was, they are "not sure" whether it would be covered under warranty. I suspect the problem may be the inflatable bubbles under the bolsters and they may not have put enough leather in the seat to cover the expansion when the bolster is filled with air thereby stressing the leather, it looks more like "stretch marks" when you look at it and the skin has pulled away from itself.

POST 4Original post

heres the picture View attachment 77 This is a shot of the side bolster, the back of the seat is to the left, this is not where you sit but supports your sides in the seat

POST 5Original post

POST 6Original post

That sure looks like a warranty problem to me.

POST 7Original post

I'm going to check my seats as soon as I get home. Thanks!
