I think they look great on 964s and 993s, as mentioned, but they also look phenomenal on 944s, I regret not pulling the trigger on a set back when Cup 1s were about $1k.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since I have a set, for weight reduction I was considering selling mine and installing 17 993 wheels. This would be a weight reduction, less rotating mass strategy. Anyway I was curious when an owner of a 95 993 coupe offered me $3k and his cheap French replicas for mine about 8 months ago. So, I dont think Im doing it, but the prices of these with the 7.5 fronts have continuously been on the move. This set is on PCA .

POST 2Original post

The world is becoming silly. Anything of even slight rarity is being treated like a collectible. I'll let other people play this game. $5,200 for those wheels is ridiculous.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 17983566

since you cant take money with you when you pass, it has to be spent. Coin collectors, baseball card collectors, art collectors, etc, etc, at least the wheels have a function. With inflation at the highest rate in 40 years I honestly think these wheels will continue to increase in value.

POST 4Original post

anyone can list for 5 grand but we won't know what they actually sell for. anyways I'd agree but prices are not so much climbing as much as they are DRIFTING UP!!!!

POST 5Original post

Prices going up on bacon, cereal and gas... I should start a thread. I love the validation I get from this forum with the prices on the cars... and parts going up. It's like "LOOK, we made it, our cheap 911 isn't cheap anymore ! We have a nice expensive Porsche". I'm just not sure any of the people who are now jumping for excitement at their new found elevated status in the Porsche, or real world have noticed what's going on with regards to the prices they pay for EVERYTHING. Hey, honey guess what, I got a 5% raise at the office, the boss really likes me, I'm moving up in the world just like I told you I would, everything's coming up milhouse. Um... dumb ****, inflation is up 7%, what you got is a 2% pay reduction.

POST 6Original post

Great analogy Zbomb I know the rims are light but from what I’ve read they tend to be fragile I wouldn’t want to damage my wheel because a replacement is astronomical these are also 7.5 wide front right? Why not search for a wider footprint wheel that can be replaced easily

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 17983572

I'm no economist, but my understanding is that inflation would decrease the value but raise the price.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 17983636

increase in Price. The guys that would continue to drive the price up would be the purists who would like to recondition a car to factory specs. Yes the price of everything is up, including toilet 🚽 paper, now when I go to Whataburger I get like 50 napkins 😂, 😝

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 17983599

True, inflation is driving up the price of everything. The used car market is crazy with values jumping up 40% in the last year. We all know that increase is temporary because its caused by shortage of new cars. Used car prices will eventually drop when new car production catches up to demand. But will that cause the value of a 996 to drop? Im not sure rising prices of a 20 year old Porsche is directly connected to the new car shortage.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 17983607

I drive in constant fear of potholes

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 17983731

The chest bumping about the new found relevancy and legitimacy of the 996 as a great, special car due to it's rise in values is great for people who want to believe it. I bet the E36, 240SX, E46, Corvette, GTR etc... forums all have similar threads where all the guys are just loving each other to death about how smart they were to buy in low and now the world recognizes the greatness that they saw months, years before, they've been saying it all along, and now they, and the car of their choosing are vindicated and everyone trying to get in now are just suckers. It's funny. Now they can all shift their bitching from, when will the world recognize how smart I am for buying the car to... which model year is the best. #Idontlike99lights

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 17983758

Took a lot of pride that I paid so little for my 996 at the time. Price increases like you said are across the board, so who really gives a ****. The bitching on best model year has already started and has been seen here. Sad? Funny? Hell don't even know at this point.

For the younger generation, look up "beanie babies".

POST 15Original post

Zbomb made a lot of good points. We have gone from just not wanting to be recognized as the cheap 911, to mine in is cheap but the most expensive/special of the cheap so ha. Luckily it is only a small group here. Same gang (really guy) you see on BAT trying to alter the market. Personally I would take any 911 from 1964 on. Well until some of the later ones, the tech frightens me.

POST 16Original post

Everyone shut up and drive who gives a flying ffff I enjoy my rides and am pleased to be able to drive my rides in the middle of NYC 10 months a year I could sell all my cars and buy a GT3 and that would be great but I’m into the variety and the uniqueness of each and what they offer to me and my satisfaction/ enjoyment

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 17984067

Hah! Rennlist is built on talking about everything important and non-important as it pertains to Porsche. Kinda like cigar and whisky night with the guys. Some substance and a lot of BS.

POST 18Original post

Seems like All OEM 18 996 wheels are insanely priced I cant find anything reasonable to swap out for my 17s

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 17984224

I have a set of narrow body solid spoke turbo twist 18's I'd let go cheap. They're 7.5x18 et50 and 10 x 18 et65.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 17984224

Same here with an extra set of Carerra 2s. 8x18 and 10x18.

POST 21Original post

i've got a set of 18" sport technos you can pry from my cold, dead, diamond hands.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 17984067

. Yes, forget about what the hell is going on with prices. Around town here in Houston the streets suck a bunch of potholes etc. Now you get on the Highways specially I10 and you can let it rip. I cant wait to get my car on Monday and let it rip. My new mission is going to be to make my 3.4 the fastest it can be, weight reduction, special tuning etc. Rules are the engine is not going to be altered (no cams), no turbo, no supercharger, no nitrous, everything else is fair game.

POST 24Original post

Hey I have a set that a mishmash they all need to be painted but 2 are politic dipped either polished or chrome and 2 are regular these would make the perfect beat me to death wheels light and pretty $600;obo pick up nyc or shipping on your dime

POST 25Original post

The scratches are the peeling plastic dip the base of the rims are in good shape

POST 26Original post

I would trade my 2003 C4 ro the 69 911T I sold 20 years ago. I miss that car. basic elements no tech, barely had FM .. < 10 fuses.. Nothing like the wail of a 2.0 through Webbers..

POST 27Original post

I love the hollow wheels. Rare sells for more. Nothing strange or unusual about this.

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 17999459

i was going to sell mine and put cup 17 from a 993, decided not too. I agree with you theyll be more and more rare. Anyway watching these no reserve to see what they go for. its a no reserve so they will sell. Ill think they will go for at least 4K and the 7.5 front is even more desirable than these which is the ones I have.

POST 29Original post

Quotes source post: 17999641

IMO cup wheels belong on a 964 or a 993. For me the wheel lineup for the 996 is 1) Sport Design 2) Turbo Twist 3) Sport Classic. If your looking to cash in or need the money, I would sell and install 17" turbo twist wheels if you're looking for more of an ode to the 996. But then again I'm assuming you don't already have 18" tires.

POST 30Original post

Quotes source post: 17999678

I have to agree with this. I love Cup 1s, they are probably my favorite factory Porsche rim, but they are definitely more of a late 80s and 90s wheel. I think they look great on 964s and 993s, as mentioned, but they also look phenomenal on 944s, I regret not pulling the trigger on a set back when Cup 1s were about $1k. For stock 996 wheels I think my order would be: 1. Sport Techno's 2. 996 Twists 3. Sport Classics 4. 993 Twists My car was originally equipped with 408s, but with these prices I doubt it will ever again be sitting on a set! I like my BBS RS GTs more anyway...

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 17999678

Those wheels are from my friend that sold the 24k miles red 2002 coupe for $52.5 on bat about a week ago. He put the BBS three part that were on the 996 on the 993 he bought and the cup wheels with brand new continental tires where a available at an excellent price to me. I was just thinking about reduction of rotational mass. I told him today to sell them because Im keeping my 408s. Actually I put some new front tires on Friday.

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Another non reserve set just posted on bat. Lets see where the one thats there finish up today. Im thinking I need to put wheel locks on mine, dont want brother to come overnight and find my car sitting on blocks.

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Look at what this set sold for. Mine are lighter because I have the ultra rare 7.5 fronts and the 9 backs. If I hold on to these long enough Im selling them for what I paid for the whole car. I wonder what the Monica Lewinsky stained piece of clothing goes for today. Slick ***** I didnt had sex with that woman at that point in Time I realize that if I wanted to, I could become President, 😝 😂. Im not making this sht up. This is robins bat mobile. Ill take it to Miami gangster city drive with the doors wide open.

POST 34Original post

Damn that’s intense pricing someone want to give me 2500 for my fresh bbs 5 spokes 18

POST 36Original post

These were just powder coated in Argento grey and not mounted they are straight and not one scratch with a close matching center caps these are the standard BBS Porsche MY02

POST 37Original post

I believe the wheels on my 996 are the most beautiful and best performing wheels on any 996 or in, fact, the best wheels Stuttgart ever produced, period. Of course. What wheels are they? Well, is that relevant at all to this conversation?

POST 38Original post

So the most beautiful and best performing wheels should remain nameless because??? $7000 rims will perform better because some schumuks think they will because they are rare

POST 39Original post

Quotes source post: 18008340

The person who paid 7K for the 408s just purchased a low mileage 993 that originally came with them but were missing. So it makes sense that someone would pay that amount to put their 100K+ car back to original spec. My 996 still has its original 408s and thats great because I definitely wouldnt pay 7K for a set. Its cool that theyre rare but they dont look any different than regular turbo twists.

POST 40Original post

LMAO people and these teeny, tiny wheels. I bet 16's will fit a 996 and would be super light!

POST 41Original post

Quotes source post: 18007729

Your 5 spokes are sweet, they bend super easy. Then again, i'm sure the tiny twists bend easy too, as they are both cast. Light + cast = don't hit a pothole.

POST 42Original post

LMAO btw those wheels that sold for 7k aren't even the "vaunted" narrow 408's! So maybe people actually don't want super narrow wheels?

POST 43 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18009705

This set sold today for $6.5k plus fees. You are going to tell me that this buyer was also looking for a spec set. The last two weeks both 8 inch front sets sold for $7 and now $6.5, I got the ultra rare 7.5 fronts, Im holding in to mine for dear life as a matter of fact Im buying a wheel lock set. Somebody loved my car at the show last Saturday. This set sold today,

POST 44Original post

Don't get it. What am I missing about why the wheels are going for such a high price?

POST 45 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18018757

They are not plain Jane. Why do You have to wait almost two years for an FSI engine rebuilt??? On top of that now you are talking $30k at least for it. There are no more 408s sets being created. Maybe in the near future Ill be able to trade my 408s for an FSI engine, 😝 😂.

POST 46Original post

Quotes source post: 18018814

I get it. 408s move with the price of a bottle of Pappy? Is that right?

POST 47Original post

Quotes source post: 18018814

Not sure that's entirely true...several Porsche parts sites including Sunset Porsche list the supposedly rare 7.5" fronts as available to buy. I personally have not reached out to them to see if there is stock, but with multiple dealers listing them I would think it's possible to buy a set. 10" rears might be a different story. https://www.porschepartsnow.com/oem-...U0VPIFBhZ2U%3D

POST 48 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18019533

They will take 30-45 days, coming from Germany. They don't have none in stock. Fronts. $859, Rear $1001, shiping I'll still be like $5000 for a set. Prices keep on drifting up. for this kind of money you can buy HRE and probably some nice bbs. it is what it is.

POST 49Original post

It would be cheaper to just by a 996 with the 408s on it. 😁
