This is not a probability of success.

I checked the levels, which were ok, and the car seemed fine - no funny noises, smells, power delivery.

Not had a chance to go to the dealer (car rarely gets used) and when starting it the other day (had been off for 2 weeks) I got the same message...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Whilst driving aggressively a message came on the dashboard with the exclamation mark and orange engine light. The message said 'Engine check. Visit dealer' (or similar), but then went away about 5 seconds later. I checked the levels, which were ok, and the car seemed fine - no funny noises, smells, power delivery. Not had a chance to go to the dealer (car rarely gets used) and when starting it the other day (had been off for 2 weeks) I got the same message... and then it went away. Going to try and take it in this weekend. Has anyone any experience of this?

POST 2Original post

You probably threw a code. Get a OBDII code reader (they are pretty cheap these days) and see what it says. Usually its emissions related.

POST 3Original post

I have the same thing happen to me time to time and i have had it checked out. It's an o2 sensor code. Nothing to worry about. Sometimes they throw a code. As long as it goes away and doesn't on i would be worried.

POST 4Original post

A few of the earlier cars had bad catalytic converters, you should have the dealer pull the code.

POST 5Original post

I took it in today. They said they'd need it for a few hours. As it's intermittant (well, twice ever), it's clearly wrong as it would stay on if it was a genuine fault - so the time is taken to trace the fault. I didn't have 2 hours, so will drop it in again later!
