Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace 3 of mine' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'cfs rad' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 3 of mine' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The metal mount, the rubber scoop were used(DC Automotive) and matched my other radiator parts perfectly.

Back in 2018 I put together my own kit using new and used Porsche parts and saved over $200.

I also went with a low mileage used radiator and pressure tested it before installing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, planning to install a center radiator kit in my 2001 C4, Pelican Parts sells two kits one with aftermarket aluminum rad and the other with the factory Porsche rad. Looking for feedback on either. Aluminum aftermarket rad looks cool but it isnt a factory part.
im not concerned with cost difference, just want it to work and be reliable.
any feedback appreciated.
The aftermarket one is probably a CFS rad. I have replaced all 3 of mine with cfs units. They r very well reguarded and r more efficient then stock. No plastic side tanks either. Not sure if it makes a difference if u r just doing the center rad but tge cfs will be an exact fit.
I think the MKI & MKII kits are different and priced differently (MKI is more expensive). I did mine 4 or 5 years ago and the best price I could find (including shipping) came from Carnewal (Gert) Not sure if its still the case. Good luck!
* I got the stock one but if I had a choice now Id go with the CFS
Only difference in the MkI and MKII is the rubber duct that lines up with the bumper. The 997 kit is much cheaper because you don't have to change the hoses to the side radiators. There are ports on those that connect to the center.
I believe I have this kit on my car. Ive had it on the car for over a year. With everything from long 1000 mile road trips to track days, its been fine. I added the LN low temp thermostat and new water pump at the same time.

Id also suggest the csf components too. I plan to replace my sides too when the stock ones fail. A lot of the turbo guys seem to run them too. The ECS kit looks good as well.
Back in 2018 I put together my own kit using new and used Porsche parts and saved over $200.
(My kit cost was $394, Pelican Parts was $623.75, and SunCoast was $749.95 in 2018)
Why use new parts for stuff that doesn't matter.
The metal mount, the rubber scoop were used(DC Automotive) and matched my other radiator parts perfectly.
I bought new bolts, new rubber bushings and new hoses.(Pelican Parts)
I also went with a low mileage used radiator and pressure tested it before installing.
It's been 3 1/2 year now (20K miles) and I haven't had any issues.
I got all the part numbers from the 996 PET.
But I can post my part numbers and notes if anyone is interested.
Note, I have an Aerokit 996.2, so some part numbers may need to be checked in the PET to make certain they're correct for your 996.
You really can't go wrong with either . The CSF definitely perform a little better than factory but are pricey . I am adding a center radiator to my 99 C4 because I am adding displacement to the engine . Cost being a consideration I recently purchased the radiator and all the mounts/bushings/hoses/duct from a 2001 Boxster S being parted out.
I know going used is not for everyone but the radiators in ALL our cars are used . I think I found an honest seller and he says no leaks and working fine . Pics provided back up his statement . Only time will tell if I made a wise purchase . The Boxster S center radiator from 2000-2002 are the same as 996 from 1998-2002 maybe even later .
I’ve just ordered new CSF AC condensers to help improve airflow to the radiators.
Mine have become a little battered from being a daily driver.
I also plan to replace the radiators with CSF radiators.
Hoping to get the CSF radiators in the next couple of months.
You don't really "need" A/C down there. You texans are tougher than the bark Luis' brisket... (yeah we can move this post and direct responses to the "off topic").
