Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I’ve got a new noise coming from the rear as I hit 4600 miles on the car. Whenever I start forward in 1st with the wheel cranked at any angle a distinctive groaning/rubbing sound comes from behind and persists until I straighten the wheel. I think it must be the differential because it never happens when the wheel is dead center or the speed is over about 10 mph. The sound is very noticeable and appears to be getting more persistent. Can anyone tell me if this normal for a Porsche or should I insist it be resolved when I take it in to the dealer?

POST 2Original post

Take it to the dealer and have them look at it and fix it. Any noise that cannot be explained should be investigated and fixed. There have been reports on this site of "noises" when the wheel is turned, especially on an incline. If memory serves me well some reports have indicated power steering lines with less than adequate pressure.

POST 4Original post

All fixed. Smitty was right, it was the power steering. The line leaked, pump overheated and the reservoir was “melting”. All were replaced. A parallel problem, a cold start ticking noise at engine rpm frequency, prompted replacement of the oil pump regulating valve.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
