Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, My 2000 996 C2 has been experiencing a niggling problem which has got slightly more pronounced in the last 3 months. The car has done 47.5k miles When I change direction I get a single knock sensation felt through the steering wheel but when the steering wheel is straight, it doesn't do it. I can only describe it as feeling like something hasn't been tightened properly. JZ Machtech changed the strut top mounts and offside track rod end in April but it still does it. I went back last week and this time they're saying it's the offside wishbone and strut, as the strut is squeeking slightly now too. (Which have to be changed in pairs) so 2 struts and one wishbone will cost £1,000 to change inc labour and vat!...I already spent £500 in April on this... It's going to OPC Cambridge tomorrow for the Annual Service so I'm getting them to look at it and give me a second opnion... Has anyone else experienced this?, I don't want to spend all this money for the problem to still be there afterwards. I just want my tight, wonderfully set up 996 back to normal!
