Not sure about the 996.2, but on the 996.1 you can clean the lenses pretty well when you remove the HID projector assembly, fog and main beam bulbs.

she walked in and said "why dont you just use a wire coathanger with a bit of cloth attached to the end and go in through a bulb hole"
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anybody kow where i can see a diagram or even a video of how to get inside the headlights on a 996.2?
i want to clean the lenses on the inside, and have done since i bought the car and its doing my head in
not only are the 996 headlights bloody ugly and as much as i try i can get used to them but mine have some sort of pattern inside them of dirt or something
there are dozens of videos on youtube but they are all how to poilsh the outside etc and i ve got a guy for that
over the 19 months of ownership i have tried dozens of diffent places and leads that have lead to nothing regarding cleaning them inside
though to be fair Skippys in Blackburn said hed have a go at them
if i can even get some bulbs out there is a chance i could poke something inside to gently clean the inner lens
thanks in advance
You can't unless you want to go through a painstaking project.

After recently part-exing my RAM Cobra for a 996 C2 (to sell easier) I soon fell in love with the car and contracted a bad case of Porsche-itus. The 996 has had a pretty poor life. Loads of owners, terrible service history, poor paintwork, non standard wheels etc etc. So....as already non...

she walked in and said "why dont you just use a wire coathanger with a bit of cloth attached to the end and go in through a bulb hole"
low and behold i got in and cleaned them to like new in literally 10 mins a light
the upside is they look great now
downside is on one of them i went a bit to far and thougt id clean the inner silver sing which is now scratched to ***** but hey ho it is what it is
Not sure about the 996.2, but on the 996.1 you can clean the lenses pretty well when you remove the HID projector assembly, fog and main beam bulbs. I used a microfibre towel soaked in glass cleaner inserted through the HID projector opening, and then a long dowel to move it around inside the lens. Not 100%, but still heaps better than what they were with fungus or whatnot on the inside of the lens.
