Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

pen removed ok, went to move the seat back to normal position and no movement !
not very happy.
moved the drivers seat all the way back to get at something (pen) that had slid down by the side of it.
pen removed ok, went to move the seat back to normal position and no movement !
it clicks and the up/down and the backrest adjustment works fine
I guess its jammed but I'm damned if i can even see the cog let along do something with it.
is there something I can do to free it up/manually adjust it - or is it a full seat out job ? Banging it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference.
If so is there a guide to getting the seat out that straightforward or is it a case of putting stilts on and drive it to a garage ?
help !

Hi all,
I moved the drivers seat fully forward and upright yesterday and the seat is now not moving at all in any direction. Luckily being fairly short has means I can just about drive the car (an advantage to rememeber!)
I have checked the fuse 3A and swapped with a working fuse.
The seat heater works (I'm assuming the power for the motors and the heater comes from the same line)
There are no sounds from the motor when I push a direction.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated before I take it to a garage.

My drivers seat lower and raise failed some time ago and i have been putting up with it instead of fixing it.
Yesterday i decided to have a look and see what the problem was. When i pushed the button to lower or raise i could hear the motor spinning just no action. I discovered there are 3 motors on mine that operate the powered seat, one for forward/reverse, one for tilting the seat and the other to lower/raise. Two motors are located on the left side rail and attached straight onto the gear mechanism, these are for tilt and forward/reverse.
What i don't understand is why the other motor is located near the right side seat rail and then a cable is used between the motor and gearbox instead of being attached like the other two motors. From looking at the setup there is enough space to run it the same way as the other two motors.
My advice is when lowering/raising the seats in your car, stop pushing the button when it reaches it's upper and lower limit otherwise this looks like it twists the drive cable excessively and it will eventually fail. It looks similar to an old style speedo cable with the squared off ends.
My seat was stuck in a raised position and was a bit high for me so as the cable was broken a bit of ingenuity was required to lower the seat. I tried spinning the cable with my fingers but it would have taken me hours to lower so there was only one answer, attach the cordless drill.
I hope this helps someone else if they have the same problem.
Thank you for the detailed reply. I cannot get access to the bolts to remove the seat as the seat is in the most forward position.
I spoke to a garge and they suggested they will manually unwind the seat further back. The garage said it is a laborious task. Does anyone have any details on how to manually unwind the seat further back? I cannot seem to find much at all.
