Yea quite the inexpensive exhaust but it was installed by the previous owner and it sounds good enough to keep it for the time being.

Since you really don't drive it at those RPMs I suspect the exhaust builder might not have optimized the sound there.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Pretty sure I'm answering my own question here but I have a metal rattle at about 800 and 1250 RPMs. I have an aftermarket catback on my 07 Boxster Base that I've been told by the dealership it was not mounted perfectly. So I think it's my exhaust rattling but does anyone else with a stock exhaust have this rattle? I just want to double-check! Interesting that it's only at these RPMs and not in between or all the time. Please check the linked video. Video: Porsche Boxster 987 (07) Exhaust Rattle? POST 2Original post

Hi @iHildy - welcome to Planet-9, the Friendly Porsche Forum.. I would hazard a guess what you're hearing is the exhaust. Since you really don't drive it at those RPMs I suspect the exhaust builder might not have optimized the sound there. It is a rather inexpensive system so I'd have to suspect it's of Chinese origin (as many of the polished stainless systems are), and the quality of those systems can vary. Meanwhile - when you have a chance, please visit New Member Introductions and tell us all about your Boxster and your car history. Photos are really the thing to do in the intro's forum! Welcome again!

POST 3Original post

Thanks, just wanted a second opinion. Yea quite the inexpensive exhaust but it was installed by the previous owner and it sounds good enough to keep it for the time being. I'll look into the link you mentioned. GL with the Boxster!

POST 4Original post

I can barely hear the rattle over the background noise. A possibility is the aluminum heat shields above the mufflers. They could resonate at certain frequencies.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
