Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The front and rear pads are perfectly in spec, I checked during my recent brake fluid change.

Started noticing it when coming home from my first canyon run but maybe it was happening before that (it was months ago, by now)?

Suggestion

Try braking harder - if pads get glazed from light use they can make this sort of squeal.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

View the videos below. It's hard to tell why or when it happens. Not every time when braking but sometimes when my brakes are warm. I'm sorry for the little detail I can provide but I haven't figured out the cause of it so far. Started noticing it when coming home from my first canyon run but maybe it was happening before that (it was months ago, by now)? The front and rear pads are perfectly in spec, I checked during my recent brake fluid change. Any ideas? Things for me to test? Not so great video of it happening (for whatever reason I thought my passenger seat was the best place to put my phone): March 21, 2023 Clip from a weekend tour video where it happens: Again, sorry for my lack of information, I'm hoping this is just a normal braking problem and not a porsche or car specific issue and I'm just not informed on what this sound means. Thanks in advance. If you have something you want me to try to narrow down your answer let me know!

POST 2Original post

Brake squeal. Try braking harder - if pads get glazed from light use they can make this sort of squeal. If that doesn't help - see if there are anti-squeal shims behind the pads (between the pads and the pistons) - if not - add them. Or try a bit of brake squeal treatment goop on the back of the pads - big box car parts stores will have it. Do make sure the pads move easily in the caliper - if they're a tiny bit oversize they'll bind when they get hot and lightly touch the disk - which can cause the glazing I mentioned. Then you go to use them, and SQEAKKKK....... One of those should cure it.

POST 4Original post

These pads are relatively tall/big - pad squeal is directly related to pad size and material. Honestly, just push the pedal harder - the pads could very likely be glazed over - a good canyon romp may help...get them HOT. Downshift more aggressively would be another option

Thanks, a few speed runs should do the trick. Yea I gotta work on my heel-toe with the car.
