Light came on about a week ago, doesn't seem to have lost power. I used code reader not showing any codes. Any suggestions?
The message center on the car should tell you what has happened? What's it saying?
What code reader are you using? You may need something more
Porsche
specific if you're not seeing anything.
Thanks for reply, the message says reduced engine power, sorry I didn't include that in my post. Code reader is carsoft pos ll
porsche
scanner. I have a good generic code reader and it read now engine codes, but said there was emission codes. Checked the o2 sensors with the new code reader and they both passed. BTW this is a
2011 987.2
2.9 with fabspeed exhaust, ibd and
gt3
plenum . Thanks
Custom exhausts often throw codes, from what I've seen. The car is very sensitive to changes in there. Some have found O2 spacers can help eliminate the codes, but not always.
With all those changes (plenum, etc) you probably should have a tune. The tuner involved should be able to help with this... but if you bought the car like this, then you may have to pay to have those issues looked at. Your alternative is to go back to stock with a stock tune.
Thanks, what tune would you suggest?
Sounds like you bought this car this way? That might explain why the car was sold as well...
I don't have one to suggest... I stick to stock myself. You may want to search around to see what others have used. My guess is, an indy tuner near you would be ideal, so you can go back for further support. You'll have to feel it out yourself to see who provides you with good support, because that's what is most important.
I've read good things about Scott from Softronics for stock vehicles. If nothing else, he can probably guide you towards other alternatives as well.
If it were mods, I would suspect the plenum before the exhaust. The exhaust won't throw a code, unless you also have headers, then it might throw the cat inefficiency code. That shouldn't cause power reductions though. The
GT3
plenum will throw a code because of the larger throttle body. The bigger throttle body will confuse the ECU because the MAF is reading more incoming air than expected for specific throttle positions. On the
987.1
, this will sort itself out after some dozens of miles as the ECU relearns the mapping and compensates. I don't know if the
987.2
is the same, but I'd wager it is since the same plenum mod is common and I haven't heard of issues with it. Either way, a tune will help these mods make more power, but it will likely not sort out the issue you are having, because the ECU should easily compensate for those mods. If the plenum is brand new, drive around for 50 miles or so and reset any codes. See if that clears it. If the plenum has already been installed for a while, you probably have other issues. I would first check that the plenum was installed correctly, and there aren't any vacuum leaks/lines left disconnected.
