This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

On the old school carburetors, us young gear-heads/Hooligans used to, on long decelerations, turn OFF the ignition and open the carb wide open to fill the exhaust with fuel, then close the carb and turn ON the ignition.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive driven many other performance cars in the past and thoroughly enjoyed the juvenile deceleration exhaust rumble / burble sound. With my 2003 C2, I almost never can hear it happen, and if I do hear it, the sound is barely noticeable. My car has stock mufflers with the fister mod, stock cats, and agency power headers. FWIW - I think the engine / exhaust sounds great as-is, other than the little lack of crackly-pops. Is anyone else here getting that fun sound? What system are you running?

POST 2Original post

People seem to like the Fister/Gundo mod, but to me it never really had that full depth sound. Went with Billy Boat exhaust and have been very happy with it. Has a great sound with only mufflers. There's a thread with clips of various exhaust setups that may be a good point of reference.

POST 3Original post

one of the most annoying sounds currently emanating from vehicles. The stupid burble tune turbo BMWs are absolutely awful. If you don't want louder, you can maybe investigate if a tuner can dump some fuel into the exhaust on the overrun.

POST 4Original post

On Modern fuel injected engines, the fuel injection is turned OFF for the most part of the deceleration period. This is to save emissions and save fuel. On cars with a more "sporty ECU program" the fuel injection is left ON on deceleration or may even be enriched to create some burbles, crackles, pops. On the old school carburetors, us young gear-heads/Hooligans used to, on long decelerations, turn OFF the ignition and open the carb wide open to fill the exhaust with fuel, then close the carb and turn ON the ignition. It would cause a loud "bang" out the tail-pipe, sometimes even blow the muffler apart..lol.. Silly fun !! If you want a few burbles, crackles, pops on the 996 on a long deceleration, just crack the throttle slightly while coasting, it will turn the injectors back ON while decelerating, you will get some extra noise..TRY IT !!!

POST 5Original post

My x51 with PSE will do it. No as well as my brothers Gt3 touring though.

Thanks for that. I have PSE also and would swear it burbles on deceleration. Nothing crazy; call it a mature juvenile pleasure.

POST 8Original post

If you remove your cats you'll get the crackling/burble you're looking for along with a significantly louder exhaust note.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, I dont want a LOT louder overall. And Im certainly not looking to be a tuned Bimmer bro with wake the neighborhood exhaust. Just want a *little* more fun.

POST 10Original post

I have the top gear sports exhaust and it burbles quite a bit on decel. I don't think it's too loud but as we all know that's very subjective. Weather is crap today, but I'll try to get out tomorrow and get you a clip if you're interested.

POST 12Original post

Been looking at these.. do you have the mild or loud version ?

POST 13Original post

I have the sport version, which is the louder of the two. I personally think it sounds great and isn't obnoxiously loud. It doesn't have any real drone (again, this is subjective) and really wakes up at high RPMs. At 70mph, the wind/tire noise is higher than the exhaust, but I'm also in a cab... As for the product experience - it came well packed with no damage and had fast shipping as I recall. For the money, and compared to other options, I'm very happy with my choice. I spent at LOT of time researching, listening to other clips, etc before landing on this. No regerts. With all this positivity, they may have to send me a voucher or something! I'll record a clip tomorrow both inside the car and gopro/bumper mount.

The new BNW burble is horrendous. Those guys deserve to be tarred and feather. Just horrible. I have a 996 TT with a Techart exhaust and I think the sound is gorgeous. It sounds raw and rough, loud on accel but rumbles nicely and not too loud on nomral driving.
