Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm just about to have bank 1 variocam solenoid replaced by my mechanic.
Leading evidence: 'Replace by my mechanic' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check before referring' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

What kind of a job is replacing the camshaft solenoid on a 3.6?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After a highish speed run i am getting P1328 & P1341 on my Foxwell NT530
P1328 - Please refe to vehicle service manual
P1341 - Camshaft adustment bank 1
Anyone know what P1328 might be?
** this is on 2003 C4S
You might be getting other fault codes due to the P1341, I had this fault come up which would also throw up other codes due to this issue, I eventually had the camshaft sensor/actuator changed and now all good. This might not be your issue but you could get led down a rabbit hole chasing other codes when it all originates from one fault.
Resurecting this as just had the P1341 and P1328 codes come up along with a CEL.
My iCarsoft CR-PRO scanner gives the following information:
P1328: No signal. Inlet camshaft. BANK 1 driver
P1341: Signal implausible. Camshaft adjustment BANK 1
And here is what the Porsche repair manual says:
P1328 Inlet camshaft output stage – open circuit
Possible fault causes:
- Open circuit in triggering wire
- Open circuit in B+ supply
- Solenoid hydraulic valve faulty
P1341 Camshaft adjustment, Bank 1 - Signal Implausible
Possible fault causes:
- Dirt in system
- Solenoid hydraulic valve mechanically blocked
What kind of a job is replacing the camshaft solenoid on a 3.6? (Out of 5?!) Is it still head cover off to get to the screws that hold the solenoid down? If so, it's beyond a DIY for me! I dont seem to be able to find much info for the 3.6 engine, just the 3.4's. Assume its the same or very similar but just wondered with VarioCam vs VarioCamPlus.

Seen DeMort's post on Alex's thread on this now...
What's the procedure for swapping bank 1 variocam solenoid?
I'm just about to have bank 1 variocam solenoid replaced by my mechanic. I've been told this is the procedure below (I think). Can someone confirm: Remove bank 1 exhaust manifold. Lock the engine at TDC. Slacken off bank 1 chain tensioner. Disconnect solenoid plug. Remove solenoid cover plate...

Yep I figured it out after reading the post mentioned above! Just that everything I found online related to Gen 1 (understandably as actually some complexity to it vs Gen 2 where you just unbolt the part!). Ordered brand new gaskets from OPC and so plan is to swap Bank 1 solenoids to Bank 2 (after cleaning them) and if the code follows then order new solenoid(s).
Started this job at the weekend. Gen 2 C4S. Bank 1 found access was really easy Bank 2 not so much. I already have bumper cover and heat shields removed but rearmost solenoid I cannot get to without either 1) lowering the engine a bit or 2) removing exhaust. Is lowering the engine likely to give me enough room? Removing the exhaust likely to be a headache due to rusty fasteners…
