How do I change the date 40th AE 996?

Hi, I have a 2004 AE, and I just noticed that the date is always 1-2 days behind. There is no "change date" setting I can find - only date format. This is a Canada car in S. Cal, so the NAV doesn't work. I just thought the date would automatically be correct, or easy to change. FYI - changing the time or zones doesn't work either. Please help - likely very simple. I assume the radio system is a Porsche PCM2? Unfortunately, those systems are MOST based and configured at the factory. You will more than likely have to get the dealership to make these changes within their computer systems. They may change you an arm and leg to reprogram the radio. I also know a guy that installed an aftermarket system in a 2004 C4S. The original system was a Bose with PCM2 radio. He's from So. Cal too. He may sell it if you're interested. I looked into purchasing one from Porsche. You know how much they want for a new PCM2 Harman Becker with Navigation? Like $5,000. Yikes!

I am having the same problem as I see numerous Porsche owners of different years and models are. I brought my vehicle in to very good European vehicle shop that I have used many times after getting very poor and dishonest service from our nearest Porsche dealer. I brought it in to check for an AC system leak and after picking it up the date was no longer correct it showed a date in April 2000. It showed the correct date prior to this. I called the shop numerous times and after finally getting a callback was told I would need to bring it in to correct it. They did not charge anything to check it but were unable to fix the date which showed 04/22/2019 yesterday on 12/09/2019. I checked my manuals and only can find how to change the time which I had adjusted many times without a problem. When you go into settings you can only change the date format, not the date. I went through all the settings via the left steering wheel lever and the navigation display and it always shows the date on the bottom right and you cannot scroll to it. I even tried holding the set button over 30 seconds to see if it would open another level and nothing. I read online to set it to summer to have the GPS update the date. I tried that 4 days ago and it still shows the wrong date. I do not know if this could be related to what I have heard on Apple phones that the GPS needs to be updated every 19 years or it will stop working. The GPS seems to be working fine and brings up the maps and accepts entries to locations and navigates. I can live with this if necessary but to own a nice vehicle like this and drive around showing 2000 just doesn't seem right. I also have had a problem since I purchased the car in 2013 it shows AM on the time after it hits noon and doesn't change to PM until 1:00. I have always just left it on 24 hour time to avoid seeing this every day. I figured this must be a software problem. I have always been good with mechanical, electrical, electronic and computers all my life but this I cannot figure out. I see it happening to many different Porsche years and models other than the 911 so this appears to be a brand wide problem. I paid to have the PCM replaced years ago due to a problem with my car dying and the windows going down at the dealer and this did not fix the problem. After thousands spent and numerous trip with bad experiences at my nearest Porsche dealer I researched it online and found that it was the passenger side door micro switch. I brought it to the European shop I go to and they fixed it, it has never done that again or died, so I do not trust the dealer. any help appreciated. I don't don't if a PCM and map update would fix this.

I found this article that may explain what is happening and if Porsche is unaware of it they need to move on it right now since it may affect everyone. Supposedly this GPS date update occurred April 6, 2019 yet my problem started less than a month ago. It states in this article which I only found in Spanish and had to translate the page that the date would appear as January 1, 1980 the date of the original first reset or any other date depending on the system. They advised the amount of bits was updated from 10 to 13 to fix the problem with the date running out. Apparently a software update will be necessary to fix this.

Sad this appears to be GPS related due to a reset of the date system done in April 2019. This should eventually affect everyone without a software upgrade which should be done at cost since it involves software not being written to accommodate this update that occurs every 19 years. Depending on when your vehicle was manufactured will affect when it hits it.
