My car came fitted with spacers/shims on the front and I changed them to these (which say they are 5mm, address says 6mm, and are not far off 7mm - good old Porsche shop but it fixed the issue)

Please post a pic of your gurney strip as I would like to check placement as I'm just about to fit one myself.

So will get wheel measurements on the weekend to check the size of the wheels.

Similar to Ian above, I have 7.5j and 10j wheels and run 15mm front and 11mm rear spacers.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bare in mind the rear arches on an early 996.1 aren't rolled as standard and I am on -30mm drop on H&R so was more conservative at the rear but it worked out well.
Hi guys.
I have a early carrera 2 996 with stock wheels (turbo twists) and stock suspension. Just feel the wheels would look awesome spaced out. What size spacers do people recommend. I still use the car daily and have the occasionally back passengers / luggage, so need it not to rub or have issues.
Thanks
Depends on the spec of those exact wheels but if its std ones then you will easily get away with 15mm spacers all round. 10mm up front if you dont want to push them to far.
A lot seems to fit 7mm up front but I like to try and keep the spacing the same front to back but thats a personal thing. I tried the 7mm but didnt like how there was very little hub left to locate on.
I have 7.5J front and 10J rear sport design on my 996.1 which I believe are the same width and offset as turbo twist ones. I did lots of research and ended up with a 15mm front and a 7mm rear which gave the best balance and filed the arches nicely without looking overkill. Bare in mind the rear arches on an early 996.1 aren't rolled as standard and I am on -30mm drop on H&R so was more conservative at the rear but it worked out well.
Similar to Ian above, I have 7.5j and 10j wheels and run 15mm front and 11mm rear spacers. 285 Cup 2 tyres on the rear which have quite a square sidewall. Lowered on h&r springs and no rubbing issues at all. Don't forget to fit longer wheel bolts with your spacers :thumb:
Thanks guys. I have brought the car its been delivered on Saturday so will find out the exact size of the wheels then. Its a 1998 on stock wheels. So judging by the comments maybe 15mm front and 10mm rears may be perfect and can have passengers and luggage and have no issues
This is with 265 rear tyres on Koni Sports with H&R lowering springs.
I think i have either 15 or 18mm on the rear (no issues) and 6mm spacer rings which are hub centric on the front.
If you use spacer rings / shims, you need to make sure they have the hub centric bits or you get wheel vibration over 70mph (as others have found). My car came fitted with spacers/shims on the front and I changed them to these (which say they are 5mm, address says 6mm, and are not far off 7mm - good old Porsche shop but it fixed the issue)

thanks for the comments guys
I have always had m3's and most people on the m3 club including myself usually buy Bimecc spacers. Never had any problems with them.
Looking online they sell them in 4mm, 7mm, 15mm or 20mm.
So will get wheel measurements on the weekend to check the size of the wheels. May go for 15mm all round
