Just wasn't using the 997.2 GT3 enough but oddly enough the dealbreaker was buying a 60k mile 987.2 base model Boxster in March.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Its had a few owners and Tony the garage owner bought it for himself but now is selling it on.
Its quite distinctive so some of you guys might know it or even have owned it.
Thanks in anticipation
Ed
Hi Digga
Thanks for the reply.
I have since found the reg number is SG10VMM and have seen it posted about on PH by SlickHillsy and dropped in an email.
Thanks
Ed
I have to say Tony from Gravelwood is a funny guy, I’m not sure how he makes any money because lots of the cars have been there forever as he explains in the video!!!
Probably a cheeky bid of £90k on this one and he will be happy to see his money back!
Thanks for the responses guys, I also got a really helpful response from the previous owner too, thanks Mark.
I am off to see it tomorrow so hopefully it looks as good in the flesh. it will be interesting to drive it as I reckon it’s been about a decade since I last drove a GT3.
I rang 911Virgin with the intention of dropping by to see the white one he put on the website last night but another buyer was finalising the deal and Tom rang back this afternoon confirming it was sold. Despite that Tom was happy to talk for ten mins and gave me some great advice, what a good chap.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
Thanks all
Ed

I think that’s one I owned - loads of owners (I think I was 8 or 9) but a really well looked after car
Sometime multiple owners can be good on a nice car as each new owner is happy to spend money on the new purchase!
Only downside is people get hung up come sale time ,just the 10 careful owners Sir
Drove 3 hours down to see this today.
Wow what a machine, deal done, just need the inspection to confirm it’s as good as I think and a new MOT then it will be with me.
Thanks everyone that posted and yes neilsss2 I do believe you were one of the previous owners.
Cheers all

Nice work,I must have posted several times that this was worth a look at and lucky for you it’s yours, enjoy
Thanks Juno
It’s rather fabulous and I feel I got a good deal on the trade of my GTS as well.
I am trying to suppress my excitement until the inspection comes back... and failing on that front.
Cheers

Fingers crossed but I’m sure Tony would have already done some due diligence so should be fine!
Well after 6 years with this GT3 I have decided it’s time for a change around.
It will be off to a dealer on SOR in 2 weeks time.
It’s been a mostly road trip car, down to the Alps, around some of the best bits of Scotland twice and loads around the Peak District.
I never did get into track driving, just did two, both PCGB events, one at Donington and a wet morning somewhere else out towards Norwich way.
I did enjoy the 2022 Mezger meet up and it is still wearing its sticker with pride.
The last road trip we did to Austria but we took my then daily 718 Boxster which was pretty good on all counts and we enjoyed the GrossGlockner with the roof down so after that the GT3 got a bit sidelined.
Without far fewer road trips and no track days I just don’t use it enough so I will probably get 4.0 GTS, Spyder or maybe even a Spyder RS
if they go down to about £100k someday.
One of my fave pictures from a certain road in Scotland some may recognise.
Had mine for 2 years next month and need to use it more. Want to do some trips in it to Europe if I can. I have thought about selling but can’t think of what I’d replace it with? Hope the sale goes well Ed.
Nick
Thanks Nick, thanks Rich
Yes I have loved having it and using it, but sometimes it’s just good to try something different.
I really did love my 987 Boxster Spyder and liked my 718 Boxster I used as my daily driver and we went touring in, I think the roof off experience is calling me as much as driving spiritedly now.
@LemonTart
Do you mind messaging me the details of this car and the dealer it is going to?
I am in the market for a 997 GT3.
Spec, Service history and price - just DM me.
Thanks

Hi Ed,
Like you I enjoy the convertible experience more than the coupe.
Funnily enough I've just bought a 718 4.0 GTS. 400hp in a 2 seater convertible is plenty probably far too much for the UK however I would definitely recommend it for the value for money/ smiles per miles.
However I understand if you have the budget the 718 Spyder or RS look good propositions too!!
Enjoy the search!
Hi Jimmy
Good to know you're still around these parts.. I hope you're keeping well.
Yes, the 4.0 GTS does look great value and I am sure it's more than enough for the road.
Dropping of the GT3 next weekend then will have to wait for that to get sold. I do have a few possibilities saved on Autotrader and PH
Cheers
Ed

I've just gone a very similar route to the OP.
Just wasn't using the 997.2 GT3 enough but oddly enough the dealbreaker was buying a 60k mile 987.2 base model Boxster in March. What a brilliant little road car (was epic on a Scottish tour) and reminded me how much I love open top motoring.
So the GT3 went in July and I've bought this
Would've gone for the RS but a manual gearbox is a must have for me. It was an agonising choice because I so wanted that engine but having driven the car I'm happy I made the right choice for me. Heading off to do the Swiss passes in it tomorrow morning, can't wait!

Oh that is lovely, yes one of those with 18 way seats would fit the brief very nicely indeed.
I love Switzerland too. I hope the Swiss weather is kind to you.
Anyone know either to these two cars ?

I am looking at trading my 991.1 GT3 (Alas at the crazy trade in prices it seems) and want to see if these are known cars ?
(My GT3 is a 2 owner 991.1 with PCCB, Folding buckets, full leather and 11k miles FPSH BTW )
Hi Adrian
Yes the second of those, the one at JZM, is my car.
I am the OP on this thread.
Feel free to drop me a DM if you have any questions.
Regards
Ed
