I guess it has to be something high up so will see if I can find a crack or if I can just re-seat it as I moved it when I changed the expansion tank last year.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just thought I'd post this here as more traffic than in the DIY section but any idea why I have found oil pooling in the cast recesses in the engine block below the intake and directly behind where the alternator sits? Picture in the linked thread. http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/24008-how-change-your-alternator.html

POST 2Original post

Most likely a cracked oil filler tube. This is not expensive but a bit of a pain to change.

POST 5Original post

I also had a similar oil pooling/leaking condition in that area. I had a leak in the oil fill tube joint right at the AOS vent hose location. With advice from this great site, I switched to a screw clamp on that oil fill tube joint. I am monitoring the leak. So far, looks better.
