Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just been cleaning out front drain holes on my 2000 gen. 1 cab and none of them have grommets in them! Although this doesn’t appear to be a problem, would like to have it as supposed to be, so does any body know part number of said grommets please?

POST 2Original post

I think there was a Porsche advisory to get dealers to remove the grommets as in most cases of flooding it's the rubber grommet that gets blocked with debris. I've seen mods to the grommets where people cut about 5 to 10mm off the bottom off the grommet effectively increasing the size of the drain hole. Sorry no idea about the part no but I tend to find that 5 mins on the design 911 web site and most parts can be identified.

POST 3Original post

Removed mine as they always act as a water trap

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Judging from the comments, looks like I should leave them open! Thanks for advice.

POST 5Original post

Just prompted me to clean mine out. Nice easy job. Left the grommets in as wasn’t horrendous

POST 6Original post

My grommets have been removed but I managed to get some from a mate. I intend to refit them as I think they stop the larger bits of debris, and trap them where you can access them, rather than allowing them through to where you can't access them. I think you need to inspect regularly though.

POST 7Original post

check this post out by @infrasilver Blocked drain holes near bulkhead, clean them out ASAP. Today I was investigating a leak on my Air Con when I noticed a pool of water in the bulkhead area under the A/C pipes and battery tray, then I spotted that my drain holes were totally blocked. It had heavily rained last night and this had obviously filled up the bulkhead area. I'd also noticed... 911uk.com
