I installed my TopGear 200 cell cats back in December, along with four all new O2 sensors.
Leading evidence: 'Install topgear 200 cell cats back in december, along' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Thanks for the suggestion..Plugs and coils replaced just over 10k miles ago.

Im going to start with cleaning the MAF and putting stock airbox and filter In.

Suggestion
Fuel trim CEL set for rkat outside of +/- 4%, fra .7 to 1.32, so your fuel trim ok and not setting code.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I added extensions to my downstream O2 sensors to trick the system and it worked.
Engine rebuilt and cylinders resleeved. New o2 sensors and new top gear 200 cats. I keep getting p0420 code. So I got a durametric to try and figure if its a fueling problem because top gear states their cats dont throw codes. So I took a screen shot of what I think would show if Im running rich or lean. Can someone help? The MAF was reading 13. All this is on idle after a 30 min drive.car is 02 996 3.6 tip with BMC air filter and high flow air box/cold air intake hose. Any other numbers I should get. Bad MAF? Bad cats? something else?
Thanks for the suggestion..Plugs and coils replaced just over 10k miles ago. Im going to start with cleaning the MAF and putting stock airbox and filter In. See if that fixes anything. Im just thinking these cats might be bad unless something with my fuel trims look out of whack, which Im still trying to figure out.
TopGear 200 cell cats definitely CAN throw Cat code. Some people have reported not getting a code, so maybe there is a lot of manufacturing variation. Maybe you do have something else going on, but here's my experience:
I installed my TopGear 200 cell cats back in December, along with four all new O2 sensors.
20-30 miles driving, then I got P0420, P0430 Catalytic converter efficiency. (Which is why I replaced them in the first place.) I've clearer it, but it keeps coming back.
(I've previously installed all new coils and plugs, and my MAF is also new, reading ~15 at idle, and my fuel trims are all good, with FRAs around ~1.02, and RKATs <1%.) The O2 reading from my Durametric shows little to no attenuation in the sensor waveform from the pre vs post cat O2 sensors.
I've emailed TopGear as to their recommendations a couple of times, with no reply.
My conclusion, TopGear CATs can throw codes. May not for some people, but did for me.
I'm now considering O2 spacers for my after cat sensors. Not thrilled about that, but few options that I've seen.
If you discover something else is the issue, I would love to know!
Im thinking the same about the cats still throwing a code. Before I switched I had no codes..soo it seems their email response stating our cats dont throw codes.. its most likely something else causing itmay be false. I put a spacer On passenger side cat and it worked.. no light. But durametric still had it displayed in faults. I could not get the driver side cat spacer to fit due to clearance issues unless I remove the cats and install 90 degree spacers. Bottom line is they claim they will not throw a code but if everything checks out I either got a bad batch. Before I email them for replacement or refund I want to make sure my my car values are good so I can show The car is not running rich or lean etc . So if anyone can help with the durametric numbers it ge appreciated. If I need to get other values please let me know
Thank you for confirming fuel trim looks good. Next Ill confirm ore and post cat readings then reach out to top gear with my findings and see what they say.
when I bought the car it had 1 stock cat that was throwing a p0430 Intermittently and the other cat was a generic aftermarket but didnt throw any codes. So when the engine was being worked on I figured Id throw some new cats and sensors on. I still have both but not sure if the stock is any good. 85k miles on it
If Top Gear told you their cats don't throw a code that are flat out full of crap. I have owned my car for 2 years. never had any codes. after a few track events my stock cats decided to fall apart. I replaced them with a Top Gear X pipe due to quick turn around and price point. Code P0420 and P0430 came up within 50 miles. I added extensions to my downstream O2 sensors to trick the system and it worked. But the simple fact is the Top Gear cats do NOT meet factory specs which in some cars can and will cause the code.
I had great email communication with them before ordering and during shipment. I ordered their Headers and Cats. During install i noticed the one bolt hole on each header (to the engine) was machined a little off center, I emailed them, no response. Once the check engine light came on i emailed them again and got no response.
This is just my experience, but to me their products are clearly "you get what you pay for" in comparison to higher quality products or OEM. Go on ebay and get O2 extenders and put them in your downstream O2 sensors. I will correct the issue. This has no effect on drive ability. Simply a matter of the PCM is monitoring the upstream o2 sensor to the downstream, It expects to see a difference within a certain criteria. The Top Gear cats don't meet the criteria.
These CATS can and DO throw codes. I could have saved money on O2 sensors had i just gotten the O2 spacers installed immediately.
Hope this saves you time and money. Just have O2 spacers installed. It fixes the problem.
Thanks for the confirmation. This is pretty much what what I realized from my data, and is my route forward. I actually already have the spacers; I just need to get the car on the lift to install them.
So, the message to anyone looking into Top Gear Catalytic Converters, here are your choices:
1) Save money and just get Cat delete pipes.
2) Spend a bit more and get a real Cat. (What I would have done; I actually like the environment.)
