Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

The PSS will allow you to adjust the ride height to your taste and the system avoids the compromise of adding springs that were not designed to work w/ the OEM shocks.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I would like to replace the stock springs so as to lower my 2008 911 by an inch or so. I know the usual suspects (Eibach, H&R), but was wondering if anyone has any insight on making the switch.

POST 3Original post

I would suggest that rather than changing out the springs you consider a Bilstein PSS system. The PSS will allow you to adjust the ride height to your taste and the system avoids the compromise of adding springs that were not designed to work w/ the OEM shocks. In my experience w/ BMWs and again w/ my 06 Cayman changing out only the springs does not produce a good result. The Cayman looked great but the ride was very harsh. I should have either gone w/ a Bilstein PSS system or changed the springs and the shocks together (Bilstein offers a sport shock designed to work w/ lowering springs). If you have PASM you can use a Bilstein Damptronic system. I personally would not change the springs only on a PASM system although others have. As far as the springs themselves, the Eibach's lower the car a little less than the H&Rs. I believe the quality is equivalent. May of the aftermarket springs are actually made by either H&R or Eibach. My Cayman's Techart springs were Eibachs. Good luck!
