Suggestion

The BK Bar is easier to get in an out and since I will be changing the seat in and out for track days versus daily driving.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I thought this thread may be of some use for taller drivers wanting a better fit for track days. My problem was being 6'5" and 250lb and with adaptive sports seats and sunroof I had compromised all the headroom. When wearing a helmet I was continually bouncing off the roof. I eventually found a driving position that was not the most comfortable but positioned me so that I could at least minimise the head banging. A tip from another taller guy was to open the rear of the sunroof and have my head bobble around in the slightly offset space. Still not comfortable for a full day at the track but the best compromise with standard equipment. I tried but could not even use standard GT3 seats as they were too small and even if I wedged myself in I still had my head bouncing off the roof due to the lowered roof height because of the sunroof at least when wearing a helmet. I am working through a custom solution which will utilise OEM GT3 runners and mounting hardware with a custom side mount bracket for a race seat. I have now bought a Racetech seat (4009W) which is really comfortable and getting a custom mount made to fit factory sliders that will give me an extra inch or so in headroom. I will post photos of the whole process when completed. I am still trying to work out whether to install a BK Harness Bar or a GMG Harness/Roll Cage. The BK Bar is easier to get in an out and since I will be changing the seat in and out for track days versus daily driving. But I like the idea of the added safety of the roll bar. Has anyone had experiences with either of these harness fittings and I would appreciate any feedback on any and all of the above
