Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just use a socket with a long extension and some electrical tape to make one when I need it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Slowly getting all my ducks in a row to solve my creaky clutch (when warm) and hopefully inconsistent clutch engagement point.
Best price I could find on a clutch kit was from Rock Auto. Looks to be the same kit all the Porsche and other euro vendors are selling for $700 or more. However, it did not come with a clutch alignment tool.

Was going to order this one from pelican, but one of the reviews from someone with 996.2 says its too small at 23.8mm. Says 25.4mm is the right spec...

After going down the google rabbit hole Ive ended up here.
Anyone have insight on a good fitting clutch alignment tool for a 2004 996.2 base coupe?
Just in case no one else chimes in, according to the Auto Atlanta parts diagram they both use the same clutch plate (which actually has a 997 part #). I picked up that tool for less than $5 from O'Reilly so not much of a risk.
I don’t know the exact diameter, but I borrowed one from a friend who machined it himself for a 2000 model. Worked fine on my 2003. In fact, it didn’t even have splines, just a simple shaft. Clutch slide on effortlessly.
I just use a socket with a long extension and some electrical tape to make one when I need it. There really isn't anything too it. The splines on all these tools are not important, you can do the same thing if the splines were not there.
Here is what you need to do: Find a deep socket that slides into the pilot bearing. If the closest socket you can find it too loose, wrap some electrical tape around it until it's a snug fit. Then, slide a long extension into this socket and wrap a bunch of electrical tape around the socket extension (where the clutch disk sits) unit that has a snug fit too. That's it! Now you have a home made clutch alignment tool that you didn't have to go anywhere to get or spend money on to buy (other than half a roll of cheap electrical tape that you can get at the local dollar store). Go and spend the money you saved from buying the tool and get some beer!
If I don't spend money on unnecessary tools, whose going to keep the Snap-on guy in business?
I've been (actually my son has been) printing some 3D tools designed by Yaz.
My son is redrawing the ring squaring tool for my Boxster engine in AutoCAD.
It will be 85.5mm instead of 96.00.
The 9613 tools should work great...I'll find out soon. (tomorrow?)
I ordered a clutch alignment tool for a 996 sometime back and it says, "03 Ford" on it.
